Hi

This might be a silly question I'm asking but as I'm waiting to be diagnosed I'm trying to gain as much information as possible.

I do have tingling and when its hot it gets worse, I also get shooting pains every now and then down my leg or in my arm but this is quite rare, I do have a lot of other symptoms which I've explained in a previous post.

Yes.

Especially at the beginning/onset of my PN. No pain, intermitent symptoms. Eventually everything got worse that very fist year symptoms first appeared. It took a year for me to get serious about wondering what it was and do something. I regret waiting.

Even today I can have no pain but other symptoms. PN is an odd duck from day to day it can be different.

My mom is visiting me and I do not drink, but we enjoyed an alcoholic beverage last night after dinner and OH MY GOSH. My PN was the worse flare I have had in 2 weeks. Was it coincidence or was it the alcohol? Who knows. But it is the last drink I will have for a long good time since it broke my time of pain free bliss.

PN is a crap shoot. I never know from day to day what it will be like.

Ditto—what she said. PN can be insidious and sneek up on you, slowly, imperceptably... deliberately, purposefully...

I too, do not drink at all for over a year now, but when in tried to have a beer on a date to loosen up, I had hot flashes and horrible, horrible pins and needles for hours. I couldn't stop twitching. I will never try again. Aren't we lucky ..

I decided to test the theory again. Both nights all we were drinking was home made strawberry daquiries with rum. The first night was made stronger and the pain was horrid.

The second night, fear kept me from making it as strong, but again I had a flare.

I will NOT be drinking again. just. not. worth. it.

Oh well, Im not a drinker anyway, but I did enjoy those frilly foo foo drinks on occasion, mostly cuz its sugar, lol.

I have had numbness,tingling and muscle cramping for 1 year never have had any pain associated with the symptoms..Both my feet are fairly numb and the numbness is creeping up my left leg--but no pain.I have had a rough time finding a doctor because all the ones I have contacted are "pain management" doctors--good luck as people on this site tell me you are your own advocate..raise hell till you get someone to listen

Yup. A friend has just numbness, no pain. Some sort of hereditary neuropathy since others in his extended family have it. He's got a mild form of whatever's going on, since his cousin is debilitated from it, with more symptoms than just numbness.

Do you know what kind of hereditary neuropathy they have? And what symptoms they have. Thanks much.

I am awaiting diagnosis but have been having numbness issues on and off for a few years. No pain thankfully but recently decided enough is enough and went to the doctors. Just at the stage of blood tests at the moment. So could be anything really. Don't fit any particular symptom pattern. Numbness areas have been back and lower leg. Plus exercise induced numbness in sole of foot.

No. He and I discovered our neuropathy about the same time, seven years ago. His is numbness, mine is painful. Although he learned of this cousin that'd debilitated, and others in his extended family with issues, he hasn't been interested enough to learn the particulars of the diagnosis.
