Right now I am up because I couldn't stand the thigh burning and numb arms. I keep making typos. Definitely keep us posted and think about family history. Some people hide it or blame old age, arthritis, varicose veins, etc. but if you remember any relatives that had foot or leg troubles be sure to tell the neurologist. A lot of idiopathic cases are hereditary neuropathies. Good luck! |
Thanks for your replies Kitt and Susanne. My mother did have issues with mobility during the later stage of her life due to complications of diabetes. She was not one to complain about her symptoms though. However, this may be worth a mention when I see the neurologist.
I do believe that weather plays a definite role in in severity of symptoms. Yesterday was overcast with lots of rain. I have also realized that stress is also a trigger. I have never been one to handle stress easily and this has been a very stressful year for many reasons. Very sorry to hear that you had a bad night Susanne. I hope that you are having a better day today. I do try to live one day at a time, but not being able to accomplish as much as I am used to is very frustrating. Adapting to this new reality will take sometime. Regards, CeCe. |

This just happened to me last night. I finally went to sleep at 4:30AM. Unlike you I did get up. Sometimes if I turn the TV on it helps to take my mind off the pain:) |
CeCe,
Your symptoms sound so much like mine. I was dx'd in 2008. Mine got worse very quickly but I did not have the muscle weakness until last year. Difficulty going up the stairs, blow drying my hair etc. Thank goodness it is not consistent. Hopefully, it will be the same for you. My IVIG RX's really help me with this. Hope you get the answers you are looking for from your neurologist!! |
I wasn't sure about the change of seasons affecting my PN, but my arthritis is killing me—especially this past week. Every joint and muscle (it seems) in my body aches like I've been out shovelling snow for 8-10 hrs. DW noticed it's affecting my gait—I'm stumbling more. Warm showers seem to help overall.

There is a deeper pain with weather changes for me. My muscles and joints hurt much more in winter.
The dried cherries have enabled me to use much less OTC pain meds during the day. But this last week with the huge storm moving across the country, it was painful even then. Drastic weather changes still are major triggers for me. |

I don't think it's the PN though, as I feel it in most of my joints - it's definitely arthritis. |
I was starting to think I was getting bad arthritis. My joints and muscles have been hurting so bad. We got snow today. Boy am I hurting!!!
