Since I have a lot of joint issues and tingling now for some reason I am trying to figure out what is what??
So would PN always start with feeling moving up your body from feet or hands? There is nothing that you can do that will make this move to other areas-it is a natural progression of the condition? would tingling or waves of nerve sensation that move down your arms or legs be from other area nerves in spine or neck? I have some localized spots that are now burning on the back of my leg on and off again this would be spinal as burning is not moving up from the feet? I don't know why the jerks have started so bad even after sleep and tingling in many different places even on my hips for a minute or back here and there. My whole system as I said before is way off now for some reason... Thanks for any input |

There are really over 100 causes of neuropathy....all different.
Mostly PN affects afferent nerves.... those going from the peripheral parts of the body back to the brain... http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/cv.html This link explains the 4 main types of afferent fibers. Efferent nerves go from the brain down the spinal cord, and then mostly innervate muscles. This link is about efferent nerves (mostly motor).. http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/cells.html It helps to understand how the body works, and these two links are pretty easy to get the idea. There are also inhibitory nerves, which prevent other nerves from firing. These use GABA as a rule. (this is not gabapentin). When these fail, then control of motor functions escapes and there can be seizures or dystonia, or myoclonus etc. This article explains how Benzodiazepines control myoclonus, but not long term. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2165012 If your myoclonus is getting worse...and you are on a Benzo drug... Klonopin or Valium, this may be due to tolerance issues to them. These drugs work well in the short term, but not in the long term, as tolerance develops and people need higher and higher doses.

I just don't understand why all of a sudden I am having all these other symptoms show up just because my neck was adjusted and stretched causing me to have burning pain in my arms etc it is though it is in my tissue now as when I think about it or tighten up the burn starts...
how can this all lead to body jerking ...? I have had the vibrations internally for awhile but not specific to my legs I do have motor and sensory neuropathy but fear where all this is going...I get little burn spots here and there on my legs maybe my body is perceiving this as pain as it is all messed up but I still don't get why one thing can make all this more evident... |

Mrs D is this all just part of PN ? the other night I did not jerk at all but then back this am in hands legs you name it it will jerk
should I really be asking a dr if more is going on ? I can touch the skin at the top of my face or neck and feel almost a chill run down my legs I am now getting that sensation up the side of my face but again this is since tissue in my neck has been stretched for this sensation only I have noticed chills running down my legs or back of my legs before. I have been stressed so was hoping the jerking was due to that. |

Is it possible the jerking is related to the benzos? If I take them more than occasionally, I experience jerking afterward. I just assumed it to be short-term withdrawal symptoms.

I can't say whether that is all PN but it is possible. If you had a chiropractic adjustment that seemed to cause symptoms, hopefully that will settle down as your body adjusts. If you are feeling a lot of stress, that can definitely cause worsening of symptoms. Look into breathing exercises, meditation, guided imagery, & Yoga. These really help. These types of things will also increases circulation in your extremities, which we all need. We had a psychologist come to our PN meeting once and demonstrate that meditation increases the temperature on the skin on our hands.

I was just lying down not a lot of jerking but tingling on one side of my hip and then the other later I also have had it in my back I can now feel more of the buzzing rhythmic sensations as in my feet up to my knees but why a tingle other areas like the surface of my skin? I don't want this all over and hope settles as time goes by
I know I can rub areas of my skin and make them burn it seems I just want to be sure PN is not moved into other areas from the chiro I did have him use the flexion distraction table on me many times He kept saying it won't make my vertebrae slip any farther and it was fine. After many times of this I told him it was hurting too much...but tingles in my head and top of my hips and it does in my back which runs horizontially is just all so strange |
