Default I would also be happy to contribute.

I often thought we should start some sort of friendly society where we, as members can contribute to help other members. I would be verry happy to see something like this started.

Liza, you are a good friend to Billye. I'm glad you called her husband and said what you did.

Please keep posting.

Default If it becomes necessary--

--I'll have a good talk with the spousal unit.

(If you think NYC women are brassy . . .)

And yes, I would certainly contribute to the "get Billye a laptop" fund. (You know, they've gotten much, much cheaper--hubby should know he's not going to break the bank--they can even be bought on time.)

Hmn. I though I just heard on the wind Liza Jane's voice saying that NYC men are just annoying.

Just letting you know - your gentle caring spirit is so much missed..... and we are all thinking about you..... good to hear that you were moved to another unit - that means improvement in some areas - and hoping that now that pain mangement is reached for you at a satisfactory level.....

Sending lots of good thoughts....

Just a thought, ask the hospital social worker about a lap top....they might have some at the hospital she can use, or she might have access to a group that might get her one pronto. Hospitals all have libraries. Most even have a librarian. Put in a plea to the local Geek Squad and Big Box stores....I once got a guy to donate a tower to one of my patients, just a guy online whom I had no idea whom he was, except he did computer repairs for a living...He fed exed me the package to my business address, and paid for the shipping too! Then I donated the monitor and we got a young quad connected to the world....there are many benefactors who could have her up and running in no time...I imagine there is some connection for her at the hospital or does she need wireless?

Well, someone tell me what hospital she is in. Since I am, no doubt the closest, I will go and see her if she is still there Monday. Greenville is not all that far from me. If she is in a Dallas hospital, that is right around the corner.

It seems that many of us have challenges besides our conditions. I'm very blessed in that my other half has always been very supportive of me. And if I was in SilverLady's shoes he'd do what he could to see that I had *some* kind of contact especially knowing how important the support is that I receive here.

Thanks for the update! And please send her a huge hug from me.

When i was in the hospital for 6 weeks last May,my son called the
Social Worker and asked them if they had a lap for me to use. She
they perfered doing that. Cathie could you give it a try. But husband
should cough up. Mybe we should get one and pass it around. Or
we could all e-mail Chaplin or Social Worker at Hospital. Somebody
give it up. Sue

Default Uh oh not what I intended

Look everybody, I did talk to the Billye's husband and tried to bully him into getting her the laptop, and we'll see what happens. But I don't want to give any sort of impression that he is anything other than the sweetest guy. He really is good, really, and HE HAS THE LINK TO THIS THREAD, and the point was only to get her the laptop, not make out that he's anything other than a bit clueless about what this community means. That's all.

There are lots worse things a man could be than clueless about the depth of his wife's online friendships. So please, no put-downs or anything like that intended or solicited here.

I'll find out tomorrow if I had an impact...nothing much happened in the hospital as of my early in the day call, as on weekends there's not much therapy.

It'll be really nice if a post appears in this thread and it's from the SilverLady herself.

Ah! Thank you for clarifying this! And here's a big hug for Billye's husband. Being a bit clueless is a big difference from being uninterested!

Default update

Billye's had a hard day today, but mainly, she still doesn't have a laptop.

Her husband asked the hospital if they have wi-fi or dial-up and they said no, so he told her it wouldn't work. I explained to Billye that the hospital dosn't have to have dial-up or wi-fi, that as long as she has a phone, she could plug the laptop into the phone and use AOL. I'm right, aren't I? I left word for him to phone me so I could explain this, but I don't think I'm going to hear. So, before doing anything drastic, am I correct? Using the free AOL on just about any computer you can signup and get a local number to dial? I had done that when I was at Mayo years ago.
