Re: "Idol"- the day after............

I thought it should have been down to Melinda & Jordan
at the finish line too.
Now that would have been a tough one to vote on.
Last nite was a no-brainer. The only variable was if enough
air-heads liked tricky shtick. That mighta tipped the scales.
There was only one true musician on stage.
and a voice like an angel.

Who the hell cares if someone's dad thought that his kid bought a
drum set, only to find out he was doing it with his mouth !
I really think that this beat-box thing is overdone.
Kinda catchy at first but should be categorized
with "Spike Jones'" stuff.
(I remember him, do you?)

Red face question about AI...

I hate to confess...I don't watch this show regularly...

But I saw a few minutes of it last night around 9:30pm. Does anyone know
who the guy (a guest performer) who sang and played the harmonica was?

Sorry to be so goofy...but I really liked him. And I missed the introduction!

Thumbs up that was fast....

Okay, I've heard that name.

I really liked HIM! I guess I will have to join the multitude and watch this show next season. I used to work nights, and usually miss all night programing etc.
But now I have switched permanently to days...for my health issues...so I will watch next season. That is all they talk about at work! I just have to join that loop now ! LOL

Have to admit, never watched this show!!!

I do like Dancing with the Stars, though.

Hicks has the smoothest blues voice to come along, on that show.
He's got the New Orleans background and feel with his own raspy
take on it. He fits beautifully with Joe Cocker (remember him?) material.
If anyone's over 40 (or even over 60 ) and went thru the blues transitions of the 60's, 70's- even the 80's - you'd like Taylor Hicks.
As a semi-retired, amateur (bars and local clubs & coffee houses) musician, I like to watch the show and see the transitions and growth of the contestants.
My wife is an avid fan (and non-instrumentally oriented- just a great listener) and nothing will stop her from seeing the show every week- short of a major tragedy.

Default You are all just GREAT!!!

I'm home. Boy! when I decide to do something I do it BIG! 6 stress fractures almost simultaneously. They really happened in about a two month period. I'm a little the worse for wear and with really serious limits on what I can do and not do, but I'm home.

I read this thread with tears, wonder, laughter and much thankfulness for having access to such a great bunch of people. Thanks to each of you for your wonderful souls and generous nature. And a personal thanks to Liza Jane and Kmeb for their crusade. Heaven help my poor husband when those two start a battle. To help you better understand his hesitancy to use the laptops, they aren't ours and we were afraid they might be damaged or even come up missing. And I was so very sick from the kidney infection and pneumonia for the first part of the hospital stay, a laptop was just impossible. I don't even remember the first 4 days. The second part of the stay, I was in intensive physical therapy and learning how to do the everyday things of life, that I was exhausted and very busy with very little time to use the laptop and in lots of pain. But it would have been really nice to have been able to make contact in the evenings when I was tired and lonesome and needing something to divert my attention from the pain.

We've discussed buying one, but there really hasn't been a need until this event. I'm sure it will get more attention now.

The sacrum fractures were in an H shape. One vertical down each side of the sacrum and then one from each of them accross the sacrum thru the S3 vertibrae. It's a dangerous fracture and I'm numb thru the lower buttocks and perianal area. They tell me this will pass as the fracture heals. Everything is functioning at this time and I'm just limited as far as moving around. I'm having to use a walker, tub and toilet assists, etc. I'm getting stronger.

Still very limited in everything I do and still in a lot of pain, but I'm home and will hope to stay in touch.

The bone issue is to be addressed in one week with a return trip to the doctor. And as I learn more, I'll update you all as soon as I'm sure I have all the details correct. I know this is sketchy and probably disjointed, but hey, I'm medicated.

Hugs to you all and many many thanks.
Billye

Default Hey--

--we're just glad that you're home.

Of course, HOW and WHY those fractures happened is still a big concern, I'm sure. Have the medical professionals been forthcoming with their opinons on their causation, and whether they can be avoided going forward? I'm assuming the whole med contribution theory has been discussed (I hope).
