Hello Friends......you may already know this but my husband just received his 1st generic meds for Cymbalta......we were thrilled since his insurance only has 2 drug tiers......brand at $50 and generic at $10.

Not sure where else I should post this in case it hasn't been mentioned before.....moderators ?

This is fine. Cymbalta's patent ran out.

The TV commercials stopped. Typically
TV advertising heavily precedes the patent
expiration. Right now Celebrex is on
Quite a bit so it will soon go off patent too.
Expect to see Crestor off patent soon too.

When drugs go generic that is when the
negative studies appear and other information
that has been concealed by the drug manufacturer.

But is a money saver for many patients as you have stated.

Yes, I've been getting generic from my mail order Pharmacy.

If you can tolerate Cymbalta, it may have very good impact on several problems related to several conditions.

I have autoimmune conditions which bring both pain and depression as part of an autoimmune flare.

I also have neuropathy, and Cymbalta helps with that pain, as well.

And Osteoarthritis.

Of course, not every drug does everything for everyone! And some cannot tolerate Cymbalta at all. My husband had complete relief from his back pain AND explosive diarrhea. So no matter how wonderful Cymbalta was for his pain, it was impossible for him to take.

The news that Cymbalta is now in generic form is wonderful for all of us.

People who cannot tolerate SSRI type drugs, usually have an abundance of serotonin in the body. The drugs raise serotonin in the GI tract and other places and this is the reason for the side effects. Nausea and diarrhea are typical. About 90% of SSRI and SNRI drug effects occur in the body itself. Very little actually crosses the blood brain barrier to the brain. This is why there can be a delay in onset for depression, etc.

Serotonin is the main neurotransmitter in gut. There is an excellent book called the Second Brain, that explains it.

My doctor just prescribed this for me. Hesitant to try it since I haven't liked any of the other drugs so far . Amitriptyline made me very violent and happy and exhausted at the same time. Gabapentin worked well until it or a vitamin shake I was drinking started affecting my heart beats, I won't touch either now since i hated the experience so bad. As soon as I get over this bronchitis I have been fighting with I will give it a try I guess.
