An ambulance chaser was on TV trying to drum up a class action suit.

Hello Ron. Interesting observation. One way to say it would be that "an ambulance chaser is trying to drum up a class action suit."

Another way to say it would be "Several multinational corporations worth tens of millions of dollars each have been manufacturing, marketing, and selling a product that they have known for many years can cause serious neurological damage and death. These corporations have already paid to settle several of these claims without proceeding to trial, because if these facts were to become publicized at trial, it is likely that many other individuals who have also been harmed would come forward with their claims. Research is emerging that is confirming the link between these products and the harm they cause. Therefore, several law firms are evaluating potential claims of seriously ill users of these products."

It all depends on your perspective, I guess.

I was not saying - it should not be brought to light. Also proper legal action should be taken.

My “ambulance chaser” comes from a couple of things.

Dec ‘08 I had a TIA. Since I had no insurance I went to the self proclaimed “safety net of the area” hospital. The very hospital that touts is “regardless if they have insurance” - the same hospital that gets millions in grants and donations from the area rich ...... to help the low income people in the area. The same hospital that enjoys its “not for profit” status.

Well - this poverty level uninsured guy got charged from 350% to 758% over what medicare would pay for the very same procedure.

I did the research. Medicare (I am too young for medicare) would have paid a grand total of about $1,500 - my charge $8,300.

They came after me - I went after them. And I did it on a professional level.

Many many many big big hospital chains had been sued for gouging the uninsured. They lost and it turns out - if I had gone anywhere in Kansas City - other than the self touted “safety net” ...... that would not have happened to me.

I grew up here - I had that beat into my head for all these years.

Guess what ...... ZERO Missouri representatives - ZERO state Senators ..... cared. I told them all. Well one female representative - had been trying to get a law passed but she was the only one that gave a hoot at all.

ZERO ambulance chasers cared ........ even the very ones that had sued and won the exact same kind of cases in the recent past.

Besides - I watch CNN too much. See way too many ambulance chasers after the next big money maker.

Don’t get me started on all the AARP related - (oh my God redundant) shysters that AARP lets use their name (for a fee I am sure).

1) what is a "TIA?"

2) if you're annoyed by the collection practices of a given hospital, and I can see why you would be, what does that have to do with calling lawyers who represent injured people "ambulance chasers?"

3) what is your position on universal healthcare, as proposed by Pres. Obama and others?

just a gentle reminder that we would like this thread to stay on topic re poligrip and neuropathy and please not to head off at tangents or become a general discussion on the pros and cons of universal healthcare or of PI lawyers etc

I'd like to know if there are any safe alternative denture products that can be used in the mean time? (I'm a little confused on what's safe to use...looks like it's all bad.)

I'm here for my mother, she thinks she might be having some neurological symptoms associated with this poisoning, and is going to get tested ASAP.

She started noticing some symptoms about 6 months ago, but thought they we're being caused by 2 other conditions she has (Type II Diabetes, and Myasthenia Gravis). She only recently made the connection to her Fixodent thanks to a news piece she watched.
As she already suffers from these 2 other conditions, we'd really like to get her off this stuff pronto... but how else will she keep her teeth in? :confused:

I have many of the same problems you described. I started having these symptoms about 2 or 3 years after I started using the cream. I developed kidney stones a few months after I started using the cream, and gall stones about 8 years later. I also went into a severe depression just afterward and have been struggling with it ever since (going on 7 years now.) I'm always weak and lethargic, and sometimes sleep way more than I should. The lethargy is so bad that I haven't been able to work at times. The stomach problems have also hindered my ability to live a normal life. I don't know if any or all of my problems could have been caused by the cream, but could it be possible?

I did some research and it seems that zinc overdose can cause a copper deficiency, and one of the symptoms of copper deficiency is chronic diarrhea. So that is a definite link. Google "copper deficiency" for more information.
