I was lucky... I had read the study this week sometime online.
But I didn't recall the title. So I searched Google "new study LDL cholesterol".. https://www.google.com/#q=new+study+LDL+cholesterol Long John's Silvers was one of the last hold outs regarding abolishing transfats... http://consumerist.com/2014/01/22/lo...-of-trans-fat/ The original Crisco (in the can) was the mainstay of Southern fried cooking in the US...esp Fried Chicken and fish. And also the Southern states had high rates of stroke: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/southern...w-study-shows/ I believe the use of Crisco and transfats contributes considerably to this risk. Also fried foods at high temperatures breaks down other fats/oils into damaging free radicals. These are also harmful to the arteries. Here is some history on Crisco: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisco The implication of the replacement fats causing increased blood sugars, has not been totally confirmed yet, but is still troubling. Avoiding this new fat is therefore prudent until we learn more. Animal fats contain a very small amount of trans fat, but this is thought to be a tolerable unless huge meat consumption is done. |
Statins
Statins made me very ill I thought I was dying, I am a insulin dependant diabetic with neuropathy problems I refused after awhile to take any statins any longer, I have been on Fenofibrate 267 mg for years now and have a low cholesterol levels.
After reading some facts on statins I am now wondering if they made my neuropathy worsen. |
Contrary to so much advice from the medical world, low cholesterol is not the healthiest way to go. There is a lot of info on this and I've posted about the chololesterol myth somewhere here.
A kinda friend, deals with neuropathy and confessed she's been taking statins for 30 yrs, I gave her a book to read on the myth of it all, claims she read it, but continues with the statins....The book is The Heart Revolution. |
