Default Scary article

Ok this article on vitamins is scary..if you read it to almost the bottom, it talks about synthetic B vitamins, such as benfotiamine. Now I am really scared. I had been researching this for info on REAL vit C supplements vs ascorbic acid and that is how I found this. I am taking Alive vit C which is the real for my iodine protocol as they said no ascorbic acid.

http://www.thedoctorwithin.com/vitam...not-vitamin-c/

This article is scary.

Without even reading it, I know the pertinent question... What are they selling?

My guess is that whatever it is, it's a cuss of a lot more expensive than ascorbic acid.

Thank you Stacey for posting the article here, it's relevant to us indeed.

Personally, since I take B12 the one part that stood out most to me was .....

Then there’s vitamin B12, which comes from activated sewage sludge.

What the!!! I order my B12 from America in the form of "Nerve Support Formula" because Australian Chemists (drug stores) don't sell Benfotiamine.

I agree that the world is not as healthy a place as it was hundreds of years ago due to soil depletion, over farming, toxins, etc. Humans are the most destructive animal on the planet, and I'm just glad I've lived in an age where it's even possible to gain some vitamin advantage from our fruit & veg.

I buy organic, always. If I could, I'd grow my own. I don't have the land to run a small farm, wish I did.

We don't have much of a choice. If we don't take the B12 supplements, then we don't gain the benefits.

Thanks again for linking the article, it was a good read.

Try not to be scared of everything you read though. I'm sure someone has written an article about the dangers of eating organically.

It's life, there is good and bad to everything we do. We have to do what we think is best and hope our body forgives us if we get it wrong.

PS: and this...

“Nature, if given the opportunity is always the greatest healer. It is the physician’s role to assist in this healing, to play a supporting role.”

I don't even think most Naturopaths today follow this ethos.

This experience we are all sharing, if nothing else, has proven that most Doctors and "Specialists" don't know! We have to become our own Doctor. Research, study and LISTEN to our own bodies. Nobody else seems to.

(end rant)

I say it is scary but I don't take every article I read to heart. I mean its scary more if it is TRUE.

I am not as cynical as some folks that wont even read an article before disclaiming it, lol

And for that matter, I do believe real vit C is better than ascorbic acid and I made the change BEFORE I read this article, lol

Lightbulb

That website is hugely misleading. I searched the thiamine and pigs comment and it is not true. Pigs are given thiamine in their feed, because thiamine is essential for them.

And as far as the sewer sludge comment, here is one way
cobalamin is made:

http://www.321natural.com/2012/08/ho...-b12-made.html
There are various patents listed for cobalamin manufacture from fermentation.

B12 is only made by living organisms. So it is cultured.
So are the vegan forms of DHA which is made by growing algae in vats.

Articles that slam chemistry should be avoided. Our bodies are one giant complex chemical factory with thousands of reactions going on all the time!

ALA (alpha lipoic acid) is not natural either. It is synthesized and that is why it contains a mixture of R and S forms.
