Default Itching.

Hi guys, been a long time since I posted but have a new question and this has been a good place for helpful information.

I suffer with neuropathy brought on type 2 diabetes. I have been diagnosed for about three years now. I have suffered symptoms ranging from painful feet, pins and needles, burning pain and electric shocks. My feet are cold a lot of the time as well.

In my hands I have lost slight sensation and find it hard to gauge temperatures. It spread to my hands within weeks of the initial diagnosis. I am currently on a high dose of pregablin which seems to be keeping the worst of it under control.

My question comes from a new symptom which has appeared recently and is particularly bad today.

My legs itch, simple as that. From the ankle to the knee my legs itch. Despite knowing better I have scratched them until they bleed but still the itching does not go away.

It is not my clothing as I wear different materials and it has not discriminated any of them and appears when it wants.

Like I say today it is bad and as I sit in my office at work I have my trouser leg pulled up scratching the hell out of my legs drawing blood again. My leg looks like Freddy Kruegers face. It is drawing me some funny looks from my co workers as well.

So my question, is this a common symptom? Should I be seeing my doctor to see if there is anything he can do? Do any of you have any suggestions or home remedies to counter this?

I look forward to the very wise answers I know I will receive from you knowledgeable people.
