In 2011 Curetogether.com did a survey of 800 neuropathy sufferers and ranked the treatments that were popular vs. effective. (see below)

I always wondered if anyone posted this survey on this forum. I did a search and couldn't find it. Forgive me if this has already been discussed.

After doing lots of reading on this forum, I think it would be interesting to have a sticky which everyone old and new could participate in when they come to this board, saying what type of pn they have, what they have tried, what has worked, or any other info people would find it interesting to have our stats regarding.

Perhaps this forum has done this and I haven't found it.

This is really interesting. I have never heard of low dose naltrexone used as a treatment for neuropathy.
I am also wondering if this drugs proved helpful why no physician has ever mentioned it. I wonder if they are aware.

It's difficult for me to imagine/characterize a treatment for neuropathy as "popular" unless it were...

I hope this message reaches you as I am not sure how you start a new thread. I have neuropathy and sever allodynia. Which they now think could be CRPS..I do know my allodynia has got a lot worse with stress....my question is I took LDN 4.5 mg took it for 2 nights and it made my pain so much worse I didn't take it again..can you put me in touch with people that have had the same problem ..I want to know should I start again but on a much lower dose..my allodynia is all over my body including my scalp and face and burns all day. Thankyou for any help that you can give me Heather

Heather, what you describe is apparently not that rare, and may be par for the course.

You might also search the archives for threads/posts about LDN (I'd search for naltrexone).

It's also not uncommon to go through a "honeymoon period" with many new medications (e.g. gabapentin, pregabalin) as our bodies become accustomed to their presence, and/or build up to therapeutic levels.

When given any new prescription, I think it's prudent to do our own research to find out about potential adverse effects, side effects, etc., and learn which ones to ride out and/or which ones to discontinue use and call our doctors.

naltrexone can be extremely dangerous if taken shortly after certain opioid use. just be aware of that. I know as my old senile doctor gave me oxycodone and suboxone together for pain and threw me into something horrifying called precipitated withdrawal. I wanted to kill him

Sorry to see your mood is blah .... although understandable if you are health challenged. Hope your summer brings you some nice surprises.
