Here's a quirky story I came across.
A person had neuropathy for a few years, was bitten by a rattlesnake, had to be hospitalized for three days with an anti-venom treatment and his neuropathy seemed to go away. http://www.myelomabeacon.com/forum/p...enom-t175.html This person doesn't know whether it was the snake venom or the anti-venom that made the difference. The 2010 post is brief and doesn't say whether this ended up to be permanent or temporary. However, the post sounds like a sincere recounting of an unusual experience. I thought I'd pass it along, although I don't recommend trying it at home without the supervision of your doctor and possibly a snake handler. ![]() Natalie |

Thought I'd add ... his posting was two weeks after the experience/treatment and says that his neuropathy, which was increasing, has been practically gone in both feet for the last two weeks since the treatment.

Yes, it is quirky and interesting... Bee venom has long been tried for MS patients.
Here is another article that goes into more depth about venoms and autoimmune disease (some PNs are autoimmune). http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/20...m/holland-text There are (were) some OTC products made for chronic pain from venom: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ighlight=venom And here is another recent venom discussion: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ighlight=venom

MrsD in one of the links you said you were going to buy the cream from amazon and try it, what ever happened with that? Did you buy it?

No I didn't, buy it. And I forgot why.
![]() I had a CE lesson on this topic, before that thread, so I was briefly intrigued. I think it was because of the cost and the short expiration date on the packages. Buying online is risky with perishable goods. Alot of people complain at Amazon in the food section, of being sent short dated, or outdated food items. Some the topical cobra venom products are not on the market anymore...due to poor customer acceptance. And finally the lisinopril that made me so severely ill, is derived from snake venom...so I am leery because of that. I worry that these organic peptides will set off my HAE problem.

Damm .... I was thinking I have come up with something weird enough that Mrs.D wouldn't know about and could finally challenge her on.

Just wanted to add that I told my husband last night if snake venom would take this neuropathy pain away, I would close my eyes and stick my arm in the cage.
Haha! Funny how desperate a person can become. I think I would try just about anything! |
