Default Acupuncture for PN

I apologize if this topic has been covered before. I found some links, but my computer kept timing out on them.

My Neurologist gave me a list of providers and said that it has helped some patients. The only link I was able to follow here looked like it had not been successful for most people.

It's very expensive and not covered by insurance. I'm thinking of giving it an initial try, but would love to know what others have experienced.

Thank you.

I'm currently receiving acupuncture treatment at OHSU (Portland,OR) for ISFPN. The provider is ALEXANDRA DIMITROVA, MD (Neurology). Dr Dimitrova studied acupuncture with Kiiko Matsumoto at Harvard University. Kiiko is the founder of Kiiko Style of Acupuncture, and is internationally known for her scholarly work on acupuncture and interpretation of Chinese Classic texts.

Am I feeling better? Yes, I walked 2 miles yesterday morning and then spent 3 hrs pressure washing my patio and driveway.

You can find more information on Kiiko Matsumoto by doing a Google search...

I can only speak from personal experience, and my neuropathy is idiopathic and involves numbness and tingling only and not pain.

Last fall and winter I went through about 3+ months of weekly, and at first bi-weekly, acupuncture treatments as well as cupping. I noticed no difference at all. I won't say it's a sham treatment, as I know many people have been helped for various ills through acupuncture. But it did nothing for me but drain my bank account.
