Default Ruling out nerve pain

Can somebody tell me if this is nerve related pain or visceral. I have been suffering constant deep dull pain 4-5 level in right abdomen and flank area after keyhole kidney surgery 4 months ago.My doctors saying they can't tell if its surgery pain, nerve and tissues healing or if its kidney hurting.
Some people are saying if its nerve pain, it is always there and can be burning type. My pain never goes away and sometimes I feel burning sensation to it.
And then I hear since its very deep and vague diffused throughout my right side and feels heavy in flank area( which is associated with kidney) that it must be kidney related and not nerve.

I tried gabapentin which does not help at all. Nsaids dont help pain at all also. Only percocept helps, so is it not nerves then since pain would be helped by gabapentin more? How can I rule out since no doctor want to tell for sure. Thanks

Hi Upjo, welcome.

Perhaps there is something in one or more of these articles (e.g. descriptives) that may help you figure it out.

tissue pain vs. nerve pain

Question

Heat tends to make nerve pain worse -- except for RSD.
RSD may result from surgery. I would post also on our
Rsd forum here.

Ice treatments tend to relieve most nerve pain
When done carefully.

Have you tried either of these?

Have you tried a TENs?

Did you try the magnesium lotion yet?
It does wonders for pain states.

Hi thanks, yes it sounds similar to RSD, but I dont have any skin changes or even stiffness, and extreme burning. Mine is constant dull ache, anyways due to have ct scan in 4 days hopefully I can get some diagnosis, something fixable though lol.

I havent tried magnesium lotion because my aching feels really deep so dont know how much it will help in my case , esp since I tried this neuropathic cream which made no difference also. But I guess I should try it to see anyway.
