Default dry mouth

Just a quick question. I only take 200 gaba at night. I have a very dry mouth. Since this is a side effect, I would think it would go away but has not. Sometimes I feel like my mouth is almost glued shut it is so dry and opening it pries it apart. It is dry day and night. Is this something that does not go away... if anyone knows be interested to know? I drink tons of water now constantly.

Was your mouth dry at all prior to starting gabapentin? Dry mouth can be caused by autonomic neuropathy. I had dryness from amitriptyline that did eventually get better, but I think I am still more dry than I used to be.

The Biotene products are great; the mouthwash & mouthgel especially.

Default Hey IllPn :)

I have the same problem.....I'm on 1800 mg a day of gabapentin. And it's just like you said.....have to pry my mouth apart ! I usually keep something to drink close at hand.

Why would you think it would it go away? Not all side-effects are temporary, and based upon what others have said, it appears to be a permanent side-effect. At least there are plenty of options to help control or reduce the dry mouth...like the Biotene products.

The biotene products do work. I prefer to keep sugar hard candy with me all the time. That seems to help me a lot. I also do drink a lot of water but you said you already do that.
