Hello all,
Here is a recent talk on youtube of the latest research theories and findings on nerve regeneration. Challenges and Beauty of Peripheral Nerve Regrowth Apr 17, 2014 Doug Zochodne, MD, Professor of Neurology and Director, Neuromuscular Program, ALS, Experimental Diabetic Neuropathy and Peripheral Nerve Regeneration, University of Calgary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHdn50W5I48 If you don't let yourself get overwhelmed by the medical jargon and just try to pick up the key themes, it gives a very rough idea of where they are and what they think about how nerve regeneration/repair may work and how it hits roadblocks. (Perhaps it helps to listen to some of the other youtube videos on the very basics of nerve regeneration first). The final summary slide is the best for wrapping up the key thoughts. Generally I am amazed what I learn from youtube on neuropathy (if I stay away from the salesy-gimmicky gunk and stick with the reputable sources). I find it a helpful resource to learn the basics of what is going on. I search for all kinds of basic medical talks and possible solutions under the sun and just play it in the background while doing other stuff around the house or doing my neuropathy exercises. Somehow my brain filters out the fuzzy stuff out of my reach and then my ears perk up when they start covering something that can help me. I really pick up a lot. Hope this is helpful, Natalie |

When are they going to make the leap to humans? The PTEN and RB-1 knockdown sounded promising. Perhaps a pharmacy path to knockdown your own body"s restrictions to regrowth:

Here are two more that I have been listening to:
1) This one is interesting in that they have recently identified that people who have one of two specific genes expressed, they are much more likely to get chemo neuropathy than people who don't have these genes expressed. (Please forgive me if I haven't summarized there research conclusions exactly right): Modeling Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy with Stem Cell Technology, July 8, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEL6Gyyjgho 2) This one I am mid way through. The doctor explains in very clear every day language generally what types of things are happening with different types of nerve regeneration: Building a Bridge to Nerve Repair Jun 21, 2012, Dr. Hubert T. Kim, Assistant Professor in Residence, Cartilage Repair and Regeneration Center at UCSF, explores the future of recovery after nerve damage. |

I have a paper copied here a couple of times
Explaining genetic failure to repair Dorsal root neurons.. And the suggestion For researching stem cells for a possible Treatment for these specific patients. It might be on the sub forum on enbloc's Thread about dorsal root MRIs.
