Default can you overdose on epsom lotion? about an hour ago,

i was in horrible burning below the knee pain & in desperation, i went a little crazy with morton's, slathering it all over my calves & shins. now i feel kind of icky...i have a slight cough & am wheezing.

i don't want to get into a full blown anxiety attack but i am getting very hyper thinking i am going to fly off to the nearest e.r.

any info about magnesium overdose?

antonina,
how are you feeling now?

There are some older posts regarding having too much epsom salts in the bath, but I haven't found any yet regarding epsom lotion.

Have you tried to gently rinse/wash it off, as much a possible just in case?

Default thanks Lara & Jo Mar

i called poison control a few minutes ago & the doc said you cannot absorb enough mag transdermally to cause an overdose. needless to say i am very relieved!

i'm so glad to stay home & not have to race (hobble?) to the hospital.

thanks again for your fast responses.

It's good you phoned them. That would make you feel less stressed about it at least.

Did it help the pain, that's the next question.

Lightbulb

Magnesium dilates blood vessels and lowers
Blood pressure. You may feel very tired if
You over use it. I rotate application sites
To avoid overuse.

I find that it will improve one area
For several days, so rotation works for
Me.

edit to add:
I think a quarter's size dollop per application is enough. You can divide that up into smaller bits for more areas. A little goes a long way. I consistently post this.... slathering it on is not necessary...it is not a moisturizer or cosmetic.

If you are not better in 24 hrs I'd get some kidney testing done to make sure your kidneys are functioning adequately.
