Four months of tingling, burning, and some numbness.
I started with generic neurontin-up to 1800mg/day. Burning pains started. Now with Lyrica 300mg day (150 in morning and 150 in evening). If I don't take it on time I can't sleep AT ALL or take a nap during the day as my body becomes an electrically charged body. It is like a continuous nightmare. I am doing yoga a few times a week and walking in 85' water a few times a week. I soak in epsoms salts 5 times a week. The Morton lotion has not worked for me and I have tried it dozens of times. I have a loving and supportive husband and had a charmed life before. Besides the Lyrica, I take daily: Multivitamin R Lipoic Acid 200mg Vitamin D 5000 IU Benfotiamine 300mg NAC 1200mg B12 10,000mcg Magnesium glycinate powder 1000mg I have gone gluten free, no sugar, lots of water. I meditate and have a couple of people that will listen about my pain, but dwindling due to lack of understanding and situation fatigue. I am trying to become perfectly healthy but the symptoms continue to progress with a few days here and there a little better but unable to make connection with my behavior. I did have excellent health prior to two surgeries, truncal pain, esophageal tear, and now the tingling, burning, and some numbness. Any suggestions are kindly appreciated. I NEVER took routine medications before this. I would like to stop the anticonvulsant, but it does help some and allows for 4-6 hours of sleep versus no REM and being awakened over and over again. Again, any suggestions, old wise ones...no expectations from my end. TIA |

Can you explain exactly what your two surgeries were in that area? Did you have mesh implanted there?
Did you apply the mag lotion to the surgical areas? How many endoscopies have you had in that upper GI area? I'd also stop the NAC... it has potential for side effects. If your problems are surgically induced, I don't see how you will be able to correct that. I think 5,000mcg of B12 is enough. Have you been tested for hepatitis? Hep C? dirty endoscopes: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/805801 you have to join to view this link....but it is free, and easy to do. http://www.edwardsragatz.com/dirty-e...rbug-outbreak/ Use "dirty endoscopes" as a Google search.

Both antibiotic and last endoscopy were 10 weeks away from first symptoms. Noteworthy: excellent health. 1st surgery slow truncal pain, but chronic developed. 2nd surgery neuropathy pain developed after 3 weeks. Thank you for all your kindness and help. I have been very aggressive with this due to pain, possible pancreatic mass, and then more pain. I have more problems now, and still with the chronic pain I started with. Since no one can find a cause, my husband said that I should have never gone to the doctors to begin with. |

So the surgery was done by endoscopy only? Down your throat only?
Not laparoscopically? Are you calling endoscopy a "surgery"? Was there cutting done or removal of tissue for examination (biopsy)? Pancreatic pain can refer to the back. If you have some issue with the pancreas, then the pain location you have could be connected to it. If you have problems due to pathology of tissue, or damage from the scopes, I doubt that most of the supplements will help. Tissue damage (trauma or surgery) responds for healing to zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids, B12, folate, magnesium, and protein. These are typically given to repair damaged tissue. If your antibiotic was Levaquin, then that too could damage nerve tissue. Dr. Cohen suggests magnesium for that. There seems to be a strong connection to the timing with your procedures. Doctors will not admit to damaging you. What is your status now with the esophagus? Do you have trouble swallowing, pain and heart burn or whatever there? When you were released from the surgeon what did he say about your outcome and results?

Suffice it to say if I told my entire year story, it sounds like I am mentally ill and a hypochondriac, even though I am NOT. I have been blamed for a lot and have been treated worse since I have a knowledge base. I have been labelled as anxiety ridden over and over again. Even to me, my story sounds unbelievable. Our medical system is broken and even when there is a direct connection with a procedure (example: esophageal tear after an EUS), not even the doctor who did it will own it. Again, for a summary, I did not take any routine medicines before last year, worked, took care of my family and helped my mother. Was very, very healthy and rarely went to the doctor-tried to avoid them. Strong pain will push folks, and pancreatic masses are scary. Last edited by mrsD; 11-17-2014 at 02:38 PM. Well, that is alot to have to endure.
We had a poster here http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post1059909-4.html Who was finally found to have a pinched celiac artery. His symptoms were more or less constant and confusing too. You can read his posts starting from the beginning -- This is his profile: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/member.php?u=62057 I am not saying this is what you have, but surgery in this area or an injury can lead to all sorts of grief. (and be difficult to diagnose). From your title here in the first post of this thread...Is this pain worse only at night? When you have major incisions thru the abdominal wall, there is a possibility of damage to the fascia that holds all the organs in. This ligamentous fascia has nerve endings so perhaps Lidoderm patches might work for you? And also the magnesium lotion applied around your scar may block the pain receptors, and relax any tightness from the scarring.
