Default Possible Alcohol Neuropathy?

Hi everyone, I am new to posting on the board, but I have read many of other posts. I am 27 years old, I eat healthy and work out, male, and I have had some type of neuropathy since Oct. of 2014.

I have also been having twitches for over a year now that my doctors have stated that is nothing I should be worried about. Recently, I have received and completed the gardasil shots (prevent HPV completed series of shots Aug 2014 and a flu shot in October 2014).

Since 2001, I have been a binge drinker. I would probably say I have at least once a week binge drink (5+ drinks) and sometimes even black out. There would be times where I would not drink for 2 weeks straight, but also not uncommon for me to binge drink 2 or 3 even nights in a row. I did notice sometimes after I drank (even before I received my shots) my hands would tingle and thought nothing of it because I thought I was just hung over and a couple of days later it would just go away. There was a night in October of 2014 where I binged drink to the point where I blacked out and the next day I felt my right foot numb and tingly. I thought after a couple of days it would go away, but 'til this day I still have the numbness and tingling but not as bad as it initially was. I also had pins and needles in my hands, but that went away after a couple of days. During this time, I did take b-complex but not consistently. Unfortunately, I continued to drink the same way as I did before. I did go to a Neurologist the first week of Dec. 2014 and she ordered blood work and an MRI of my brain (with and without contrast) and everything looked normal. The radiologist even commented how great my MRI was. The reason for seeing her was the twitching and feet/numbness.

Fast forward to Feb. 1st of this year, I had another night binge drinking and the next day my left foot started to burn. There was one more night where I binged drinked and the next day the burning was more intense and I had shooting pains. Fortunately, this was the last time I drank, but I should have stopped long ago. For the next 2 weeks (Feb. 5th Feb. 18) - I felt things were subsiding my foot did not burn as much anymore and the tingliness in my hands was slowly subsiding. I was also taking Bentofitomine 300 MG a day, Methyl-B 5,000 mcg a day, and Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg a day. Unfortunately, that wonderful two weeks did not last. By the 18th of Feb. my hands started to have the pins and needles feelings and a bit worse than before. So I made an appointment with my neurologist for March 10th. From Feb. 27th until March 10th I started to have some form of twitching in my right eye and around my face. This caused me to start stressing out about ALS/MS. When I saw the neurologist I felt my tingliness in my face and my left arm felt heavy. When she examined me she said that everything is fine and "you should be ok." She prescribed me Gabapentin and she ordered an MRI of my upper spine and an EMG done to be sure. She was almost hesitant to have me do it, but I persisted. I have not taken the Gabapentin bewcause I wanted to do the EMG first. My reasoning, how can I know what symptoms I am having if some medication might be masking it? I have my EMG scheduled today (March 16).

I thought everything was going to be fine, she reassured me I had nothing to worry about and I should just stop stressing over things. However, less than a week later after seeing my neurologist, it felt like I had a new symptoms everyday. Today, the tingliness has spread from my hands to my arms, my feet to my upper legs, my face. My feet and hands now burn at times. Three of my toes on my right foot feel like they've lost some feeling to them and I also feel like my skin is wet even though it is not.

I was so sure that the cause was my drinking. I have not drank in 1.5 months and things just seem to be getting worse. I keep wondering if the cause might have been my vaccinations. I was also thinking is it because my nerves are finally given a chance to heal and during the healing process they're misfiring. Like I said earlier, I will be having my EMG and I can take the Gabapentin after, but I am still feeling hesitant to do so and see how I am another month from now. I have stopped taking any vitamins because it seems my nerves were more stimulated when I took them. However, this might all just be psychological something to blame for my symptoms escalating.

Sorry for the long post. If anyone can give me their opinion/advice, that would be great!

Can anyone tell me if they believe this may be due to the vaccine or is it alcohol related?

That question really cannot be answered. Has your liver been checked?
