Default Have Peripheral neuropathy

I was diagnosed with Peripheral neuropathy and have never had pain like this pain. Does a good diet help with the pain if you start eating correct foods??

Eating carefully may help if you are gluten intolerant or have other food intolerances. (example=nightshade veggies).

Reducing sugar and carbs helps some who have diabetic inclinations or frank diabetes.

If you are using a drug (like statins), and continue to do so --that causes PN, the PN will continue and progress. Other toxins include solvents, pesticides, fungicides (often at golf courses),
chemotherapy for cancer, formaldehyde, alcohol, smoking, vaccines, autoimmune disease, etc.

Genetic PN still has no effective treatment, so pain management is about all you can expect from that. It is best to avoid certain drugs however, as they are thought to be triggers.

Certain nutrient deficiencies come with gluten intolerance due to poor absorption. Other deficiencies may be genetically based or result from odd dietary habits.

So some things you may be able to help yourself with and others, less so.

I can over eat on potato salad and have to pay the next day with increased inflammation in knees and hips. Simpler the carbs worse the flare. I was diabetic for years before getting trauma-induced PN. I already knew that simple carbs are not good for me anyway. Many post here about what foods worsen their pain, from nightshade vegetables, refined sugars(cakes pies pastries), etc. Do you know what your underlying condition is?Good Luck, Ken in Texas.

A while ago I switched to the Atkins diet to try and drop some stubborn weight and it hit me that there was a dramatic drop in pain levels. Well of course during the induction phase your only allowed 20g of carbs total and zero sugar/day.
The penny finally dropped.

Lose pain and lose weight at the same time...has to be a winner!
