What would you expect from your medication? I have severe non stop tingling, prickling, burning, stinging, electrical sensations, twitching and deep intense pain all day every day ALL OVER my body. There is not one second that I don't feel these things.

By taking medication what would I expect to be gone (hopefully) or reduced. Does med help all of these sensations or just pain (burning/stinging).

Also, how much relief do most people get? 90% ? (hopeful) Does anybody ever feel normal?

Hi I can relate to what you are discribing. I had similar symptoms after a car crash it continued for 6 years. I was introduced to a product that boosts Glutathione levels and the symptoms all have faded away. Its amazing too feel normal again.

This is really a tough question, everyone is different and pain is highly individualized, but a pain medication is considered successful if it results in a 40-60% reduction in pain levels. The object is never to remove all pain, it is to restore some quality of life, so you can think about something other than the pain and get some sleep.
My medication relieves most of the burning and reduces the muscle pain in my legs to a fraction of what it would be without meds, but I still have numbness, pins and needles in legs, hands and arms, a feeling of constriction in my feet and ankles like they are wrapped in a tight bandage, feelings of things running up and down my legs, and a variable amount of burning. These are constants. Then there is breakthrough pain when the nerve pain in my legs just becomes hard to take despite the long-acting meds. Many of us are never really comfortable, but it should be possible to find significant relief.

Thanks Susanne. Not what I was hoping for but realistic I guess. I am in awe of u guys, u all seem so calm and accepting and it seems like u go on with life just fine. I am a wreck. I can't figure out hOw to live. I am 1000% consumed. Scared and just can not cope. I cry all day every day.

Hello canagirl, sorry you have such trouble. I will give you my 2c. If you have only mild pain, I believe it would be possible to relieve all of it with medications typically used for PN. If not mild then you probably will not be able to eliminate all of it. You will just have to try and see what you get. Typically you would slowly increase the dose until you get an acceptable amount of relief, or the side effects become unacceptable to you. Medication may relieve some of the symptoms other than just pain. If you are taking nothing, then I believe you could feel significantly better. I am taking a wild guess that my pain is reduced by 75% with gabapentin and tramadol, but I have never eliminated both of them to see what happens. Good luck.
