Default Sitting and lying on back cause numbness?

Sitting or too long ( 10 min or longer) or lying on my back for too long ( anoint 10 min or longer) causes my upper bum ( lower back) area to hurt and my bid to feel numb, compressed, heavy almost paralyzed but I'm not numb and can move just fine. Anybody else feel this way?

I have some mild disc issues in the lower back (typical 50+ year old back). When it acts up, I can get some weird feelings - although I'm not sure I exactly follow your description of what your feeling.

More importantly, my back tends to act up any time I change my routine (sit more than usual, lay down more than usual, tense up the back for some reason, too much exercise, not enough exercise, etc.). I know you have been dealing with some tough issues recently - so I can only assume that your physical activities have changed from what you "normally" do. So, maybe its just your back "complaining" about the changes??

When I was fighting off the shingles, walking around like a wounded cowboy with a gut shot wound from a John Wayne feature, I started getting back spasms, mid thoracic. I have had sharp, breath takers in the past when I was heavier and in less "shape", but these were likely from my posture changes.

I hope it has passed as an issue. I'd also encourage you to write down significant changes and even what you eat. I journaled food for a year, almost consistently for years in regard to symptoms.

Jon

Yes this happens to me too. I hate it. It makes me not be able to sit for more than 5-10 minutes sometimes. It happens in my legs too. As soon as it starts happening in my legs, I have to get up right away or the entire thing will go numb or both. It is very scary.
