This is very interesting. While not suitable for myself it would have had direct effect on someone in my position in 2005.
I was already heavily medicated (narcotics), and developed a dull ache below my ribs I thought nothing of - I have chronic GI issues. When I took my Annual, self-imposed break from my pain killers to ensure I was not addicted/dependent, that dull ache transformed into a raging, stabbing pain that had been masked. The cause? A tumour acting as a valve in my gall bladder, blocking the duct. Thankfully, due to my break, it was removed without further problems. Targeted pain relief would stop, or at least reduce, cases like mine. I applaud the advance. Dave.
