Default SFN - Nerve Pain on Face and Red eyes

I have been feeling nerve pain on my face and my eyes are swollen blood shot red. Any suggestions? I have small fiber neuropathy due to auto-immune (ulcerative colitis). Seems like I have nerve pain head to toe. Would it ever get better?

I have SFN throughout my whole body but the left side of my face. I've had it for 7 years now. I wish I could say it goes away but for me that is not happening. I will say it gets a little easier to handle. In the beginning I was devastated and so stressed about it that I think I only made it worse. I found this site and different supplements and other techniques that ease the pain and help me to stop focusing on only that.
As for the blood shot swollen eyes are you sure you don't have pink eye or allergies. If it is an eye infx your eyes will have a crust on them in the AM. If it is allergies cuisine has a allergic product now. I have never gotten red eyes from neuropathy bit maybe others have.
I hope you get some relief!

I hope it is because of Blepharitis and not SFN. I am new to all these diseases and do not know what to do. So stressed and so much in pain.

Have you been checked for sjogren's? That goes after the nerves and the eyes. I am borderline positive for it and have eye issues (some days worse than others). Sjogren's isn't really a diagnosis, it is just a syndrome that they haven't found a cause for- so still idiopathic really. I know that some people get much relief from anti-inflammatory eye drops though.
As far as I know sfn doesn't cause swelling. It is the disease process that causes the inflammation that is hurting the nerves, so what ever that is would be what is affecting your eyes. Unless maybe you just have conjunctivitis or allergies.

My son has had recurring shingles since he was ten, in a line from his eye to his ear, with similar symptoms. Is there any possibility that this is shingles?

I have pain, burning and sensitivity in both eyes (especially the left). I also get a terrible stabbing behind the left eye. I can only assume that it is a SFN symptom. Both of my eyes are bloodshot most days. No doctor has been able to comment on this, which frankly doesn't surprise me.

Madison have your doctors had you visit an eye doctor? I have a friend that gets severe redness and pain in her eyes every allergy season but the stabbing pain behind the eye should be investigated.

I have seen an eye doctor. There aren't much help in this area. When my symptoms broke out, I had a wet/hot/warm sensation that went up my cheek and to the back of my eye. Now I get intermittent stabbing eye pain and pressure around the underside of my eye and jaw. My MRI was perfectly fine, so it has been caulked up to SFN symptoms or a "not well defined" problem. Gabapentin is helpful in masking some of this, but it doesn't help enough.
