Default Numbness in face!

Hi again. The past week or so...I have been waking up with numbness between my nose and upper lip. This has never happened before. It just lasts about an hour or two, and then goes back to normal. I'm having absolutely no facial pain or tingling. Could this be related to the burning in my feet? The dr. said this could spread depending on the cause, but...come on! This is ridiculous! Thanks.

I think you dr is correct. It is related. I have the same thing. The inside of my cheeks and lips get numb. It comes and goes mostly when glucose is high. Just now winding up a 4 day hitch with it..

Thank you so much. It's numb every morning for a few hours.still waiting for my skin biopsy results so we'll see what they say.i've never had numbness in my face before so it feels like a very strange sensation to me. I will let the doctor know about it and see what he says. Thanks again.

No diabetes but I just had my A1C test and it came back at 5.5. I wonder if it should be a bit lower. My B12 came back at just above 300...so I wonder if that should be a bit higher. I had my biopsy and it went really well...it didn't hurt! He's convinced that this is what I have so I'm going to read up on the supplements, etc. and eventually (even though all of my bloods for auto-immune diseases came back all clear,) I'd like to see a rheumatologist because my joints in my hands are really hurting me in the mornings...just for a couple of hours, but they're painful and stiff so it makes doing basic things very difficult. Thanks for the input.

It is a concern not knowing. I know what mine is caused from at least the high sugar and stress. My cheek and lip numbness is gone for how long I don't know but good riddance. I would be thrilled if my A1C was 5.5. I do not know what perfect is but that has to be close.

Thank you! I also woke up with no numbness in my lip! I will update when I get my results.

Default sorry .... other "openings" as well??

Sorry to bring more potential worries ....

Also monitor whether you have an increased tendency to wet your pants or feel like your urethra is slightly numb or more loose than before.

There is a huge number of nerves in all your "openings" (lips, urinary opening, etc), so if your tingling and numbness is to that level, you might be feeling this in all your "lips".

At the height of my neuropathy during chemo, I had the same sensation tingling, numb, lack of control in all my "lips". So my mouth was slightly drooling and I was slurring and had less control to tighten my mouth lips. At the same time I had the same sensation in my urethra and would lightly wet my pants if I wasn't careful. My partner was careful not too tell me jokes that were too funny and I feared sneezing.

This would go away and then come back again when my neuropathy would intensify after each infusion of chemo.

Luckily this was my pn at it's worse during chemo and has improved since that time and these particular symptoms went away.
