I forgot my Dr. called no vascutitis what a relieve. C this was great and
J you are so right. I just have to go over it again,I' in a hurting mood,
so later tonigh when i'm wide awake,i'll read it again. I just don't know
how hands can hurt sooo much but thanks again. Sue

Have they considered IVIG for you? The Sjogren's diagnosis might work for getting it.

If one has had a biopsy positive for vasculitis, which I have, does this mean that the peripheral nerves also have vasculitis and therefore the PN is vasculitic in nature? This was not mentioned in my sural nerve biopsy, although I did have 39% demyelination.

The area where the path showed vasculitis was a thinly cut biopsy of skin on the front of my leg, just below the knee... This biopsy was done several years after the sural nerve biopsy.

--though many of us have multiple conditons that contribute to possible neuropathy, and sometimes it's a major puzzle to figure out just what resulted in what.

Vasculitis is a much more common cause of PN that many doctors think, and it is one of the causes that can be revealed by a muscle/nerve biopsy. Any condition in which blood vessels are damaged can result in nerves not getting enough nutrients and in waste prducts toxic to nerve function building up--in fact, the mechanism of diabetic neuropathy is thought to be primarily vasculitic in nature.

Vasculitis can be toxic, metabolic dysregulated, or autoimmune, but is not a nice thing in any case; blood vessel damage is one of those things that have effects so many other places in the body.
