I'd like to share about a product I have recently tried.

I have tried the "Homeopathic Topical Analgesic Solution."

This is a very strong homeopathic mix in a base of a mix of strong essential oils.

I have found a study done on this topical.
Please be advised the manufacturer was involved in the study and they clearly disclose this fact.

Please note: Not for use in pregnancy or when breastfeeding.

A leaflet inside the box reads: "...Persons with known allergies to aromatic compounds or with environmental sensitivities should not use this product."

My Experience -
In my experience, this solution quieted pain very quickly. In less than an hour, I was so much more comfortable. Very impressive!

However, this solution has a very strong odor of strong mixed essential oils. It turns out, I react negatively to one or more ingredients. I had this on my feet. I awoke hours later, with major swelling around my eyes. It's a very potent mixture. If you have any known allergies or sensitivities to any ingredient, don't chance it.

If you are sensitive to strong "floral" scents (I do mean very strong scents), you may want to avoid this product.

Take these product warnings seriously, please.

I was in severe pain when I had tried Neurogen PN. My pain was relieved by 80-90% within an hour of one application. Works well for my PN pain.
I am sorry I have such a strong negative reaction to the formula.

I found this product a bit expensive. It's based in a mix of essential oils, which can be expensive.

Neurogen 0.5 fl. oz. (15 ml) for $29.99, very often on sale for $19.99.

Check on the net for locations to purchase.
I found this product at my local Rite Aid store.

Just a thought:

This product is so potent, if I could play with it some, I might try mixing a few drops of the liquid oil-based formulation into a small amount of "carrier oil," to see the effects of using this in a little weaker formulation.

"Carrier oils" are oils used for massage, etc. These include jojoba, almond and other oils.

I encourage people to try it at full-strength first, if trying it at all.
Remember: this strong formulation is intended for the feet.

I will add a warning which people working with essential oils already know:

Never place a strong version/dilution of any essential oil, or any essential oil mixture, on the spine or neck. Only very, very diluted essential oil mixtures can be safely applied in these regions.

I was hoping you'd give feedback.

I feel the strong essential oils were the "effective ingredients" for temporary pain relief. I was in such severe pain, I am sure the pain relief was not a placebo effect.

I have used strong essential oils in carrier oils, solo (not mixed with other essential oils), in the past and some can help pain. One of the problems is: prolonged topical use of any essential oil will often eventually create a sensitivity to the essential oil.

If essential oils are used at all, the person using them needs to fully understand how to use them, when to rotate uses, how to dilute them, etc.
(I was trained by a nurse. She is teaching other nurses and allied health professionals how to safely use essential oils. There is a lot to know.)

It's interesting the product cannot be sold in Canada.
Tells us something.

I also feel the product is expensive. I'd tried it when nothing else was helping, not even a combination of meds targeting pain. I was in excruciating agony, and had been for days/nights. I was desperate for even a couple of hours of relief.

I have discovered over the years that anything applied to the feet alters the perception of the air on the skin.

So the oils would fall into that category.

I've used A & D ointment for dry skin on my feet, Aquaphor, and a Gold Bond cream, and all of them changed my burning pain to some extent. Not alot, not enough to recommend for PN, but enough to notice.

There is a patent applied for for the geranium oil. But it is so strong smelling that not many posters here are saying they use it.

I am very leery of things costing over $20 a package, and this Neurogen was higher than that! PNers are targets for all sorts of products these days. One was just posted that listed benfotiamine, methylcobalamin and lipoic acid as INERT ingredients with no doses included! But it did list the dilutions of several homeopathic ingredients as ACTIVE and it had a huge price tag.

I'll see if I can find it again... hinky labels, hinky prices, anything hinky, should be avoided.

It's often true, when someone is experiencing excruciating pain without a break, for long enough, even the most cautious person might try other options, hoping for relief. Many of us are "sitting ducks" for remedies/approaches which may not be in our best interest.

I know this, first hand.

As for any product which is mostly essential oil(s), the product would be expensive, as essential oils ( a grade to put on the skin) are expensive.
Knowing this, the sale price did not deter me.

It does appear the safety of use may be in question, especially since Canada will not allow the marketing/sale of the product within their own country.

Essential oils, the same formulation (solo or mixture of oils), are never a good idea for prolonged use.

The other product you've mentioned, as described, seems questionable as well.

This link had a warning pop up for me (not a secure site)... so don't go there if you don't have good virus protection.

Beware of poorly or deceptively labeled products. A legitimate company will be able to inform consumers in a rationally useful way about what is in the product. Beware of "proprietary mixtures" as no details are given with lists of this type, and basically you never know what you are really getting. Products with "proprietary mixtures" are typically also very expensive, leading one to be impressed with all the ingredients of which there are no details. Sales tricks like this highly sway some customers, especially those who think expensive products are
"better".
