Default Knuckles swollen

Hi:

The neuropathy in my husbands hands has got quite a bit worse in the last few months and now one of his knuckle joints is considerable swollen.

It is somewhat painful, but not hot, and he can't really use that hand much.

Has anyone else experienced this, or could it be just plain "old age" arthritis?

He doesn't have arthritis anywhere else, but we always tend to assume it's the PN when another new symptom comes along!

Thanks. Linda

I'd have a doctor look at that. Hands are very specialized joints, and if it is gout, or RA, he'd need treatment to protect from permanent damage.

Some people get infectious arthritis in the hands too...so that should be looked at.

I was leaning towards that - my husband's going to leave it over the weekend and if it's no better on Monday he'll get himself to the doctor.

Thanks for the input!
