I had a bunch of colds in a row and my platelets decreased, indicating autoimmune stuff. And yes, my pn increased (a lot), but I'm unsure about the cardiolipin numbers or even if I tested positive...although I often do. My rheumatologist follows that and I only see him about twice a year. I don't have test results.

These posts and others I ve seen have reminded me how important it might be to keep tabs on my numbers and report them to the hematologist, especially if I should need tx for low platelets. Of course, if I need tx, I might ask the hemo. To take these tests.

So you do not need to take anticoaguants?

No. For one thing, I tend to bleed easily due to having low platelets. The low platelets are consistent. The anti phospholipid is not consistent. So, in my particular case, hemorrhaging is actually the bigger fear.

My platelets (blood clotting factor) are always low, sometimes very considerably. People with low platelets worry about bleeding. So, it is weird to have two issues completely opposite in their nature/symptoms. If I was treated too aggressively for my bleeding disorder, combined with the other situation, I could clot.

I think it is possible that to a very small extent the two problems counter balance each other. I sometimes wonder if it is Mother Nature trying to reach homeostasis..well that's my dream.

I guess I won the lottery having a bleeding disorder and a clotting disorder at the same time.
