Susanne, At the wound care center i am going to, i asked what happens next if my wound doesnt heal even after the amputation and they said we would use an artificial skin also in that case. they never mentioned a cast but that may be because of the difference in locations between the two wounds. Your wound center appears to be following the same protocol as mine.
