Confused Need Drs (and new friends) in Portland Oregon

I moved to Portland Oregon a few months ago and I need a Pain Mgt Dr and a neurologist. I have severe pain from my SFN. I've been seeing my Pain Mgt Dr (Kevin Kane) monthly since March and when I mentioned how hard it was to drive because my feet hurt so bad, and this Dr asked, "Why are your feet hurting?"

There are many other reasons to leave this dr but that question topped the cake.

Thanks,
Brenda Ingram

Hi Brendaingram56,

Welcome to NT. I am not in your area so I can't help with your search for new doc but I am sure someone will come along and offer some help in that area.

Hi Brenda,

Wow! That is a bit disconcerting. Yikes.

I think you can do an internet search for a specialist in your area.
Have you tried an internet search to locate a new doctor?
When I put "Portland Oregon Pain Medicine" into an internet search, I am shown at least 3 different clinics immediately. There may be other clinics as well. I did not read through the pages.

It's possible someone from your region will see your post, so hang in here.

I hope you find the help you need soon.

DejaVu

P.S. Lots of good people and great information here.

Thanks, DejaVu. I can do a search - I'm just hoping for a recommendation from a local person, as u said. Fingers crossed for that! I appreciate your response and your caring.

Default A Great Place to Start

OHSU Neurology:

OHSU Pain Management:

Brenda, I live in the Portland/Vancouver area and have been dealing with SFN for several years.

I highly recommend you start your search with OHSU. They are widely considered to be the finest health care facility in the Portland metro area. With there help and guidance, I'm living a reasonably comfortable life.

Joe, thank u very much! I will see if they are covered by my medical plan and see if I can get in there. I notice your icon is for a golfing guy. I had to give up golf and I was passionate about the sport!

Thanks so much for your advice.

Do you mind if I ask if you have been through the SS Disability process?

Joe, I would do anything to be able to play golf. The pain in my feet is so bad that even when it's not that bad the minute I shift from one leg to the other both feet start screaming!!
