Default Finally found a supplement that helps

When I take 10billion CFU lactobacillus twice a day, I notice less brain fog and better energy. I've been using culturelle instead of my fancy combination probiotics that I was taking. It took about 2 months to see an improvement. I figured this out from the times I forgot to take it for a day or so.
This is the ONLY supplement besides copper that I have found to actually do something for my neuropathy.

Glad to hear you've found something that has helped!

Have you had a history of any gut problems? And I can't remember, did you take the 23andme test?

I haven't been right since I tore up my gut taking iron supplements three months before the neuropathy hit. It was at the height of my problems then, that I had a multi-week-long problem with horrible pressure-like symptoms in my head. It wasn't pain, but just pressure and bad brain fog. Have always wondered if that played a role. I had that happen once before in my mid 20s.

I saw this news come out a few months ago, but haven't heard more about it. It really makes me ponder the possibilities. I started having gut problems in college, and it's really the only long-standing medical issue I've had until the neuropathy.

I've been taking a Jarrow probiotic once day. Maybe I should try stepping it up.

Default To me gut health is the center for health.

Years ago I was given the wrong test results from an endoscopy and told I had stomach ulcers. I was put on horrible medication that destroyed all acid in my stomach for over a month. Long story short, after the mistake was noticed and acknowledged by the doctor I fixed what had become of the flora in my digestive tract by diet, Culterelle and Align. (Align has a type of probiotics that is not included in the other, Bifidobacterium infantis.) A close friend who is a chemist suggested I use these instead of the designer probiotics I was using

I do make my own yogurt and love Kefir, but those 2 products contain sugar so I eat them sparingly. I think I'm going to add at least culterelle to the mix. I should be able to judge pretty easily if it's too much.....

Thank you Healthgirl for helping me retrieve this memory!

I have had intermittent digestive issues over the years and I've tried different combinations of probiotics. I never saw a difference. The issues had been on and off and then I was struck with the polyneuropathy. I personally never found probiotics to help much for my gut issue symptoms and that hasn't changed. I tried taking multiple strains on and off. I don't know if it's a coincidence or that this particular strain is helping me cope with my toxicity. I didn't do the 23andme test because I don't feel that there is a point. I have always been aware of my sensitivity to chemicals, foods, smells, etc., even when I was strong and healthy. I'm sure I have a problem coping with toxins and so do my kids. Even with photos and diagnosis of all three of us with a neurovascular problem, no doctor can help- so I'm on my own with this anyway.... like most of you.

Oh boy! Look at this. Might be helpful for all of us with idiopathic neuropathy.

Probiotic heavy metal detoxification. L rham. is the one I take.

If it can detox metals, who knows what else it can bind and pull out!

On mold/mycotoxins

Hi Healthgirl.
I also tried lots of things for digestive issues over the years without tangible results. However, those 2 probiotics I mentioned helped me after my system was so messed up due to the doctors mistake.

Since my neuropathy started my digestion seems to be worse so I figure this wouldn't hurt to try. If it causes excess gas, I have the runs or the opposite etc I'll stop.

I have been sensitive to foods and smells for years. How do they affect you? I have not been dxed with polyneuropathy but I have a few of the symptoms.

Thanks.
