I get burning in my left eye and paresthesias in the left side of my face, down to the left side of my throat. It also extends into my left ear and causes disequilibrium (feeling of rocking or walking on a trampoline). My vision is blurry because of this. It was worse during the acute phase of my symptoms - things were so blurry that it was almost like I was living in a cartoon world. Noisy environments would cause my disequilibrium to kick into high gear.

My eye doctor doesn't have a clue and told me that she wasn't taught much about neurology. The neurologist didn't know and shrugged her shoulders. The ENT didn't know either.

It's all small fiber related. At this point I feel like I know more than any doctor that I've seen. I should really follow up with neurology, but I'm so over all this crap.

My ophthalmologist (actually, more than one) has told me the same thing, so I have always used preservative-FREE drops.

No, to my surprise, he didn't do that simple test. I agree and I don't doubt that there's some inflammation, but what can they do about it other than note the fact? I'm much more concerned with healing than with diagnoses, but perhaps there's something being missed that's dangerous or what have you, so I will follow this up indeed. There's a neuro-opthalmology clinic here staffed with neurologists concerned with such issues, so I'll ask for a referral. The problem is that ophthalmologists here don't give a **** about anything other than detached retinas and cataracts, where they make their money. They are the highest paid here.

If you continue to have odd sensations with your eyes, i would suggest seeing an ophthalmologist vs optometrist. There are numerous tests to look for inflammation, etc. that an optometrist might not catch.
