Default Collagen peptides?

Hi

Has anybody tried taking collagen peptides? Are they useful? Are they harmful? A friend keeps telling me they are used to help repair damaged nerves. But with my horrible Google skills I haven't found much on them...

It's very useful/healthy overall. I get mine through bone broth on a weekly basis. Basically, it's extremely useful for building and strengthening connective tissue throughout the body. I don't have much time to search for studies at the moment, but I know of this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24401291.

I don't know about peptides but I do know a friend from another health group went thru a year of peptide injections out of a doctor in FL. She dealt with sjorgens and arthritis and fibro issues. At the time these injections were about $300 a session and she did 12 or more.

I'm into 3rd month with UCII collagen and have good results and Scripps San Diego just reported on clinical trials after 180 days of using it on people. I'm into 90 days now. This may not interest you but it's the collagen I am taking now.

David do you have a brand you'd recommend or do you make it yourself?
I made it for awhile but stopped.

I make my own, almost always using lamb bones. I aim for at least 6-8 hours in the pot, but have simmered them for double that time a few times. It's just so easy to make and so much better with my 100% grass fed animal bones, just so tasty, that I've not looked around to see if I can buy it packaged and done for me. Whenever I get hungry, I just drink a cup. Sometimes I even blend the veggies that use in the pot along with it and make almost a soup, which makes it even more filling.
