On the dental issues, thinking of my parents, mom had dentures as long as I knew her, dad had horrid teeth, he never went to a dentist. We lived in fluoride water. My ex was raised on the farm on well water and when I met him at 21, he did NOT have a cavity but when he moved to Pgh and started his adult life the teeth issues came on. Pgh was fluoridated a long time. Mom and dad ate tons of sweets, we did that back then...many still do I'm sure. I don't NOW.
My daughter ended up with horrible teeth after years of pharma meds...she had beautiful teeth until all the drugs in her marriage days. Grandkids, the boy as had some cavities and he's 15, the girl is 19 and no cavities but moderate fluorosis from the fluoride gels at the dentist office. The boy likes his sugars too much. Those who live with well water get naturally occurring fluoride anyway from the atmosphere, but what the major water supplies are getting is this waste by product that comes in huge bags delivered to water works. I threw teflon cookware away a long while ago, teflon is fluoride coated... |

"teflon is fluoride coated"
This is factually incorrect. Teflon (formally polytetrafluoroethylene) contains fluorine atoms linked by covalent bonds to carbon atoms. The carbon-fluorine bond is very strong - it is unlikely that it would be cleaved on a cookware item. Fluorine atoms and the fluoride anion have different chemical properties - they are not the same thing.

I am not normally one to always blame "toxins" in the environment, but when you look at all the proven man-made causes of neuropathy like chemotherapy, poisonings and certain prescription drugs--now World Trade Center cleanup workers-- you have to wonder what the environmental toxins are that may explain all some or all of the idiopathic PNers. And we may just be the ones with more sensitive nervous systems, for whatever reason, possibly triggered by certain exposures or traumas...or borderline systemic problems in our bodies. It's interesting, but then it also sort of leaves you powerless. Not much you can do about this...

The water here STINKS. I have been buying bottled water now for a few years and I have a filter on the faucet. My building was built in 1929. I have noticed a difference in my health since I started using bottled water but I'm afraid the damage has already been done.

RunWrite: Yes, I agree so much damage has been done and what we can do is be aware and know as much as we can and to slow down and manage what we deal with. If I could go back and do it all over, maybe I wouldn't have all this arthritis and mouthful of dental work...I spent a long life in "F" water. What's left of my life I'd like to be comfortable and manage on my own as best I know how.
