can flu cause pn .had a bout of flu for 2 weeks and started getting pain at first in both knees and elbows but after a few days was getting mild burning back of calfs and fore arms now cant lean on my elbows and hands are tingling the burning is worse after a shower or bath doctor says its just affects of the flu infection and has give me Neurontin 3 tabs a day .would pn cause the symptoms as quick and in as many areas as this has ???

yes, viral infections can lead to a PN after the fact.

But I would also caution you to avoid hot water in those showers.
Lukewarm only.

No heating pads, or hot tubs either.

thanks for the reply I will have the water lukewarm .could I get the wide spread symtoms that quick ?. and only been on the Neurontin 2 days but feels worse tbh do you no if it takes a long time for them to work

Hi Billyboy,

Yes, Neurontin takes time to work. Everyone is different but generally it takes several weeks to several months for it to work. A lot of it depends on the severity of the PN. What the doctors do is give you a starting dose, either 100mg 3x daily or 300mg 3x daily. Then every 3 to 5 days they tri-trate you higher until a level of efficacy is reached.

thanks cliffman doctor has not said its pn he says its a reaction to the infection but never had anything like this before I have had itch before with an infection and I do suffer from a bit of health anxiety but don't think this is that he has put me on x3 of 100mg a day for a month then said if its still affecting me will up the dose tbh he is the best doctor there and I trust him but scary is it common for pain in the elbows and knees its mild and comes and goes in the day no swelling but few red patches on palm of my hands where it has slight burning does it sound like pn ?
