I was diagnosed with MMN roughly 16 months ago . Back then I only had the standard test for Lyme disease not the advanced Western blot. I was an avid hiker and encountered numerous ticks in the past. My question is it possible to have Lyme disease instead of MMN ? Or would the neurologist be able to determine the difference. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Jim

Neurologists tend to not be helpful in this area. If you've only had the standard Elisa/Western Blot, it is not necessarily accurate for ruling out Lyme in everyone - especially those with non-traditional symptoms. That test was designed very narrowly and can miss about half of the cases. It wouldn't hurt to see a Lyme doctor to get alternative testing. I enjoy reading Dr. Jaller's blog. He is a Lyme doc from the east coast and he did a post on MMN and Lyme: http://lymemd.blogspot.com/2015/07/l...europathy.html
