Mrs. D - I just learned that I have the MTHFR Mutation. I'm taking methyl b12 supplements; does this mean I also need a different form of folate? As an FYI: My most recent blood test showed:
Pyrrole Disorder High Histamine Zinc Deficiency MTHFR Mutation Elevated Copper I failed my second EMG that concluded evidence of a length dependent axonal sensorimotor neuropathy. A cat scan of my lungs showed evidence of inflammation - although I do not have any congestion. They want to repeat in 3 months. I am feeling much better thanks to meds: Cymbalta, Neurontin and low dose of Xanax. Are there any nutrients you can recommend? Any additional testing, or do I just need to wait and see what develops? you are showing lots of concerning issues. I think you need a good doctor to interpret your goals and treatment.
That high histamine certainly can cause many symptoms. you do have to give your methylfolate and methylcobalamin time to work. There is a condition that causes elevated biogenic amines (of which histamine is one). That is called Carcinoid syndrome, and does also affect the lungs. You can get tested for this, to rule it out. Doctors sometimes overlook this possibility. |
Very appreciative of your reply; I did some quick research and will follow up for testing on Carcinoid syndrome asap. It looks like there are a few medical centers with docs who are aware of the condition. Also, the high histamine test result is from Pfeiffer Medical Center. A friend of mine recommended that I get a nutritional assessment from them and I'm glad that I did. Much more thorough and they prescribe compounded nutrients. I'll also follow up with them.
Thank you again!! Quote:
