This asthma and allergy thing is out of hand and despite my absolute hatred of medication, I have come around the realize that life is too short and there might be some relief.

So, Mrs D was kind enough to post a great list of anticholinergic drugs that I should not take
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can take?
I have tree pollen allergy and it is the season in NY right now.
I have prescription nasonex that I never tried yet because of my fear of steroids, well I tried it this morning so I'll see how that goes.
Today I will look for some allergy eye drops. Anyone know of the least toxic or at least most gentle form. There are like 6 kinds and it's overwhelming.
For the breathing I have the ventolin which helps a little.
There are also a huge assortment of pills to take: claritin, zyrtec, allegra, etc.
The pressure from the allergies is hurting my head and neck nerves so much. It is setting off pain in my muscles and everywhere. I know if I didn't have the neuropathy, I could get through this like I have for years. Everything is just so much worse now.

Zyrtec is a second generation antihistamine and while may have 'some' anticholinergic effects, it is a small amount and not a strong one like benadryl or some of the others.

I personally, don't have any anticholinergic or other negative effects from Zyrtec. It may be worth a try for you. If you find it is not helpful or you have unwanted side-effects, then stop it.

If your asthma is allergy triggered, and the Zyrtec controls your allergies, then you may not need a daily asthma med and just use the Ventolin when you have an acute attack. You should consider talking to your doctor about options as well.

i would consider doing a nasal flush twice a day, morning and night using neill med sinus rinse with sterile water during pollen/allergy season. it helps my daughter.

Grape Seed Extract has gotten me off a lifetime of antihistime drugs and allergist visits. The drugs and doctors NEVER helped me.

try generic its cheaper, lotaradine, i think cause some side effects(i experience some drowsiness, and or strange dreams. Ceterizine is usually the go-to for some people, just dont take more than 10mg. fexofenadine or allegra, is also useful for allergies, but if you are buying online or in store its pricier than all the older ones. Benadryl and diphenhydramine, cause sedation,and drowsiness, the first few times you use it make you drowsy very easily, after using it continiously the sedation should have little effects. as it acts on the CNS, it may cause other side effects, if your sensitive, hypnic jerks. dry eyes, dry, mouth, dry nose is common, your Gi SYSTem may be slowed down by the diphenhydramine, but its anti-histamine effect is worth it sometimes, better use if you have severe allergies.'
-you can try other otc antihistamines Chlorpheranime(never tried, but heard its less sedating than diphenhyramine.
-dimetapp(brophenaraamine) is sedating, because its in liquid form. can be used for allergies/fevers or respiratory infection symptoms.
you should also know, that different otc antihistamines may work well, less or none at all for some people. you might have to trial and error. Also, it may take the 2nd generations a week or more to build up to work.
for my allergies, nasal allergies,post nasal drip from house dust mites.
ceterizine gets rid of these allergies 90% of time.
fexofenadine has little to no effect for me.
-lotaradine, couldt take more than 2 because of side effects.
-diphen, best to prevent scratching, but it will lose effective, if you use it continiously.
Generic is much cheaper, so you can look around online to buy
ive actually used the nedi squirt bottle, with saline(bicorbanate/acl) it has little effect because of my allergies.

general cost from cheapest to expensive diphenhydramine,lotaradine,ceterizine,fexofenadine . if you are buying from a grocery store it is quite expensive, but sometimes you need it asap.
