Default Safest effective migraine medication

I am getting nerve head and sinus pain that I thought they were sinus headaches, but the ENT said they are migraines probably made worse by allergy season.
Anyway, The nerve pain in my head and sinus areas goes down into the back of my neck like electric pain and triggers my shoulders as well. I want to have something on hand because this is no way to live if I can get relief.
Does anyone know which is the best with the least side effects. I wouldn't be taking it every day, probably just once or twice a week when its very bad.

I have been taking prescription Imitrex 25mg's. I actually have script for 50mg's and cut in half; cost is the same for both and a bit expensive at that.

I have been using Imitrex for over 15 years. I take an Imitrex when I feel a migraine coming on. Often starts left side of eye area and back of neck. I try not to take more than 1 or 2 a week, if needed. Some times I only need 1 or 2 in a month. Over the past few years my migraines are not as often as they once were.

Years ago, when I was on the prescription Midrin, I was taking them too often and would have rebound headaches..... Which I would take one; then in an hour or two; migraine back; so would take another; and so on. At the time I was unaware of "rebound headaches". When I started Imitrex, I have been very careful not to do the same thing. Rarely happens that I need a 2nd one after a couple of hours.

For me, Imitrex has been a godsend.

My partner, who has no neurological issues, used to get migraines though has not for some years.

She found that Imitrex worked well for her.

Not a drug BUT a B vitamin. I just started taking a B2 for extra energy.
