Default Nerve Pain meds

Well worth watching for med's that work on Nerve pain; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8CP-rfqp0s

BTW, the doctor explains the specific difference between Lyrica & Gabapentin.

Thanks Cliffman

Very informative and discusses other medication options.

Added: doing some further reading on nerve pain in relation to beta endorphins and came across this article: "Understanding Endorphins and Their Importance in Pain Management.

Thanks, Cliffman. Informative. Though I don't use meds now, I now know better how to approach the issue if/when I do.

I'm early on, but I was cringing when he talked about suturing the rat's sciatic nerve. I was fidgiting in my chair, legs squirming on the ottoman. My wife gave me the 'something wrong?' look.

I do like his injecting humor into it. That is one of my best friends most days.

Great share, Cliff!

This is a great video. At about 42:00 he speaks quite highly of desipramine. Has anyone tried desipramine? I'm wondering if it truly works as well as amitriptyline, but with fewer side effects. Gabapentin has not done much for my nerve pain (believed to be due to pre-diabetes/early diabetes, but different MDs have given me different opinions). My neurologist is considering amitriptyline, but I'm worried about side effects.

I'm on Desipramine. I asked for it. I was suppose to take Elavil, but asked for this because rumor has it that is has less side effects. It is somewhat helpful for my nerve pain. I gained about three or four pounds from it. Few side effects.
