A rare side affect - which I believe resolves itself after 5 to 10 days - of IVIG - is aseptic meningitis... which would cause a continuing headache and fever.... if the headache is really bad - might really be worth calling the service.... agree with dahlek - your neuro must have someone on call - I'd do it....

HI,
Well it's a low grade temp....99.3 and headache. After reading side effects of Fentanyl I think that's my problem. So I took the patch off. I took a Tylenol again this morning and have a dr. appt tomorrow morning at 8......if I get worse today tho I'll run over to the ER for sure. I hate to think that it's the patch tho because it was working for my nerve pain......dang!

Dan, I will let you know what God says. But I have to warn you, this is the Presbyterian God. He's not so good on actual verbal responses as some of the others. Ha. We Presbyterians usually end up having to study a lot to figure it out. Wouldn't want it to be too easy.

Default Roxie, it doesn't mean a one or other

issue, it's just that the TIMING of starting both at once confuses any cause/effect clear cut AH-HA moments for docs. Talk to your doc about it all, and if your headache is better tomorrow it may end up being a status-quo and wait-and-see issue for you both. As long as there are some sort of 'yellow-alert' flags up, folks will know what to do, and when the next time. It might be stopping the patches rite before or during the infusions just to see what happens on the IVIG only...ya know?
Relief, in any way we can get it is THE GOAL...isn't it? Good luck tomorrow! - j

Hi J,
Yep timing was bad for starting the patch....but since I do the infusions every week I don't really have a good time.
The Pain management dr. told me to remove the patch and come and see him in a week.....maybe try it again later on......but right now I don't know if I want to do that or not. I'm still running the temp......it's up to 100.1 tonight. It'll be interesting to see what the Rheumatologist says tomorrow. I have been laying in bed and sleeping on and off all day and still have such a miserable headache. Hopefully the dr. will shed some light on all this tomorrow!
