Hi K

Glad you are OK...Please pardon my absences from here, but up North, we get a lot of living done in the summer, as we hole up in winter, and my hubby has hauled my sorry behind all over. (Yes, I grumble.)

Plus, my great idea of having a large organic (transitional) garden, has yielded results that I, am having a bit of trouble keeping up with....30 quarts of pickles and pickled beets canned just yesterday....plus 12 loaves of zuchinni bread....my youngest daughter helped, but she is DD and I can only give her certain jobs, and have to make sure she stays away from the hot pots, etc...

Hubby had to go to the home improvement big box and get me a huge pail to mix that kind of bread dough....no bowl was big enough....(I am ready for Armegedon....actually, I am tired of eating imported slop, so this my attempt to be patriotic...it is harder than I remember from my younger days...I gotta buy a bigger freezer now.)

My tomatoes have not started yet, but I have nice huge pumpkins!! (Still green of course) When the tomatoes come, I need to call in the reserves.

And I will be happy when I do not see another green bean for a while...my hands, back and feet kill.

On the good side, I dripped boiling water on my calf and felt nothing...Ah yes, the wonders of neuropathy....you are either dying of pain or dying from not feeling some potentially mortal wound..the burn is fine.

Oh, and the sunburn, it is coming along fine too, I didn't feel that either. I am a redneck, LOL. After I realized I got so burned, the next day I went out with a dishtowel under my hat, and the national guard helicopters buzzed my land....I wonder what they think I was growing!!! We waved. They occassionally find large stands of 'hemp' left over from WWII around here. It grows wild now, but they used to grow it for rope back then... and it can get quite out of hand, and now and then somebody decides to 'cultivate' it....they come and burn it. It looks like an invasion when they do that. I haven't seen that in over a decade tho...maybe they were just nosey and wanted to see what I was furiously pulling out of the ground....it was an overabundance of rutabagas.

Hubby wants to know what I plan to do with those rutabagas....I told him I was going to play Bocce Ball. I don't know what to do with 200 rutabagas...send them to starving people in China??? Oh wait, they send Us stuff not the other way around.:D

The idea for next year is to maybe sell this stuff it is was successful this year, and it was...I am not geared up to sell this year and because of the drought, the ripening has been kind of eratic...some things early some late.

Today, I am retreating to my air conditioned bedroom with DISH tv. I am beyond exhausted...and sore. I need to stay horizontal to rest my back.

I have an old lap top which I try to use while confined to my inner sanctum, but it doesn't always work....I think it over heats and turns off. Not to mention I have to haul the modem and all the wires in there. EESH.

Just to let you know I am thinking of everyone, and as soon as the heat lets up and I stop bouncing from one day of overactivity interspersed with one day in bed, I will be back on regularly. If any one needs me, you guys know where to find me.
