Default Lidoderm Patches

Hello Everyone,
I remember Mrs. D sayng where to place lidoderm patches to affect certain areas of the body.

The burning pain of my neuropathy has been bad for the last two months and is continuing to get worse and worse. I've been pretty much on the couch or in bed for the past week.

I'm wondering if Mrs. D or anyone else can tell me where to place patches to affect both of my legs and arms. I'm desperate for some relief.

Ive been trying everything, yoga, (didn't work it got worse), meditation, epaom salt baths. I'm even so desperate that I have started to take my pain meds more often. They are not even working!

Well enough complaining. Can someone help me with where to p,ace the patches?

Any suggestions on what to do with this pain is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried the Aspercreme Lidocaine lotion first?
It is quite inexpensive and works very well for me..sometimes better than the patches.

I used this lotion for my swollen agonizing knee attack about a month ago. And it worked like a charm, with one application over the painful part of the knee once a day.

I'd try lidocaine over your sacral area on both sides... 1/2 patch on right and left. This will numb the major nerves going down the legs. If only the lower legs and feet are bothering you, I'd do 1/2 patch behind the knee, just below the bend on each leg. This placement has worked for me quite well. I do seem to have knee pain referred down the calf into the feet.

For foot only issues, 1/2 patch put on the instep (top) of each foot.

Start slowly with specific targets to see if it works for you. I don't think you should end up with several patches all over. Rotating locations is safer. I found that the lidocaine effects lasted a day or two for me, which allowed for moving them around some.

Thnkas Mrs. D. It says I can use up to 3 patches at a time. If I use half on one side of the sacrum and half on the other were would you recommend I put it on the upper neck area to work on my arms?
I would try the aspercreme but I'm in so much burning pain I would have to put it all over me.
Thanks for your help!

whole body symptoms suggests that your issues may be emanating from the dorsal roots along the spine. Hence putting the patches along the nerves coming from the spinal cord is the best placement. Putting lidocaine where you "feel" the pain often fails if the dorsal roots are the source.

I would choose one target for now, and see if you can reduce that area's pain. Don't worry about all the rest in the beginning.

Does anyone know if yoga would help or hurt this? I keep thinking the stretching may be good for me. I was trying yoga but wasn't sure if it was helping so I stopped. I'm in such a flare at this point, I'm not sure what to do. I only know I need some relief.

My last two IVIGs didn't seem to work. I have a neuro appt on Monday but last time he wanted me to try the only anti-consultant I haven't tried yet (sorry I can't remember which one). I don't want to do that because my husband was diagnosed with cancer a while ago and I really want to keep a clear head. Thankfully, right now he is beating all odds and doing great. (This is the reason why I disappeared from the site and you don't see me on much)

What do you think, will yoga help at all? I appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

Mrs D. I'm doing research on exactly where to place the patches for the dorsal root. It looks like possibly along the sides of the cervical spine since the dorsal ganglia are on the sides of the vertebrae. I thought I may also try the sides of the sacral spine. Do you agree with my thoughts?

Yes, I use anatomical diagrams from Google to place my patches.

But I have found the lotion so much better for curvy hard to reach areas. The patches don't stick well and that factor makes it difficult to determine results.
