Not many have posted about this.
Here are some links taken from a search of PN forum using "stem": Stem cells stem cell therapy northerngal had two treatments with little or no improvement. You can check out her profile and read more that way too.

Yes, I had two treatments using stem cells derived from adipose/fat. I did not regain any strength or feeling in my lower legs. I do not have pain, only numbness, so I don't know how it would work on pain.
The first treatment was April of 2015 and the second December of 2015. If they worked at all, I would have had one more, as 3 were recommended for auto immune diseases. |

As far as I can see from a PubMed search ("neuropathy" "stem cell'' "fat") there is currently no peer-reviewed evidence that this procedure is of any benefit.

A place I looked at in AZ claimed to treat almost anything with stem cells, including PN. They even claimed it will treat kidney disease. Based on my limited understanding of the complicated functions the kidney does, I believe the kidney will be one of the last body parts for which stem cells will be a possible treatment.
Stem cells may someday be part of the answer for PN treatment, but I don't think just injecting stem cells from fat into your feet is enough. I am willing to try almost anything, but am leery of anything that claims to be a cure-all for everything. I do know two people who had very good success avoiding knee replacement via stem cell therapy. Anyway, after reading some info on the risks involved, and not finding any study that showed it helped PN, I decided the small likelihood of success wasn't worth the risk. I suggest letting other people be the guinea pigs. If it really helps, the word will get out and people will be lining up at the door. |

StevenD, I agree with your opinion about the place in AZ.
As far as I know the only form of stem cell therapy that there is currently good evidence for is bone marrow transplants. These come in different formats but all depend in the fact that bone marrow contains stem cells which can produce all of the different kinds of blood cells. What this means is that a bone marrow transplant can often but not always be effective in treating otherwise intractable blood cell cancers and related disorders. There are many other forms of stem cell therapy under experimental investigation. Some might turn out to be effective, others might not. Time and more work will tell.

I would be aware if the place was promising results or being pushy. The place I went to in Ma was not, in fact I contacted them and requested they try it. They were honest that they had not done it for peripheral neuropathy, and did not promise me results.
The stem cell therapy I used was in hopes for regenerating nerves in lower legs. It was simply fat extracted from my abdomen, stem cells extracted from that fat and then reinjected into my lower leg nerves and 1 vial injected in my bloodstream via IV. There are more extensive stem cell treatments, like the ones being done at northwestern by Dr Burt, for auto-immune diseases. I attempted that one but was not accepted. That one extracted cells from bone marrow. It also required complete immune system depletion. Good luck in your decision. There are many stem cell places in other countries going on too. I would be careful of these, they are a lot higher priced than the ones offered in the US, not sure what they are supposedly doing different to make them higher priced. |

I recently received a stem cell paste injection into my damaged pudendal nerve area last month. Dr.Todd Malan of Scottsdale AZ harvested 70million stem cells from my abdominal adipose tissue through a mini lipo-suction. Then the stem cells are separated and counted by computerized equipment before the injection. The adipose stem cells will stay at that injection site for 2years. This high concentration of stem cells will be healing and combating inflammation & pain. It has been 4weeks since the stem cell paste injection into my damaged pudendal nerve area. I haven't felt burning pelvic pain since the stem cell paste injection. I was able to decrease my intrathecal pump this past week. I will continue to wean off my pump completely over the next 10 weeks. It is wonderful to be pain free! Dr. Malan told me that this stem cell paste injection can also be injected into any disc or joint. Even if there is bulging, ruptured, or degenerative disc. Even if there is no cartilage in the joint. The stem cells will heal any disc problems. The stem cells will grow new cartilage for that joint. This stem cell paste injection is an advancement in stem cell therapy. This is God's Miracle Medicine. |
