Hi Mel, i agree with Billye, mag & calcium supplements worked for me with calf cramps, oh boy before hand, i use to wake up at any given time during the night with terrible painfull cramps, since David told me about the mag and cal, i have not had a cramp since and i don't take them every day just every now and again but its seems enough to do the job, i feel sorry for anyone that get cramps they hurt
all the best
Brian

Mel,

I'm another who gets cramps regularly at night - they can vary in how many toes, the whole foot, etc., etc. are involved. I am responding because I saw that you were concerned about your shoes causing them. While they could be a contributing factor, I am unable to wear any store-bought shoes of any kind, and I still get them. I take my mag, and all the other good stuff . . . I imagine they would occur even more frequently if I didn't. Sure ain't gonna test that one out!

Hi Rafi:

No, it's not the shoes. The crocs are very big in the toe box.
You mention you can't wear any store bought shoes.

What kind of shoes do you wear??

Mel

I used to wear sandals I put together myself. Then I had a cobbler make a pair from my design. They have just a sole, kind of shaped to my feet, with a big toe loop sewn into the bottom (sole) piece. There is a heel cusp that rises up about 4' in the back. The top of that cusp serves as a holding loop for a strap that goes all the way around my ankle - the strap is adjustable and fastens with a small metal clasp.

They work pretty well but there are a few problems. They do not stay totally secure on my feet when I am walking down any slope and even with a cane, I have to be careful. Also, the ankle strap became a problem some time back, when my PN moved further up. So, I have developed another design - this one has no straps at all, not sure yet about the big toe loop. But I hope they will slide less.

And I also use the topless sandals I have posted about a number of times. They are not comfortable enough for me to wear too much -- but they work as a kind of change in sensation for a limited bit of time.

Topless Sandals
