Default New to the PN group and ? about B-12

I've noticed some tingling in my feet and numbness for about 3 months. My layest check-up with my doc confirmed that I have PN. It seems to be progressing quickly. My B-12 came in at 448. I 'm wondering if I should try some supplements and get that up? I have an appointment with a neurologist but want to get going on anything that might help right away. I've been a wine drinker for a number of years having 1 to three glasses most days. This probably contributed to my PN so I'm cutting back to 1 glass every few days. I hope the symptoms don't get worse!

Hi Brogan

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

The PN forum is very active so I am sure that you will get helpful suggestions from other members.

In the meantime, this thread might help you in the context of Vitamin B12 Elevated B6 without supplementation; low B12; early PN .

All the best.

Lightbulb

Most of the PNers here keep their B12 levels at 1000.

I would start with 5mg methylcobalamin on and EMPTY stomach
and see if you experience improvements after 3 months.

I have more information on a stickie on the PN forum. It is
full of links and good information.

If you do choose to try methylB12 stop it for several days before and further testing. Otherwise testing will be falsely elevated.
