Yup, have been busy trying to navigate the fine line between actually securing a position where I can be of real help and one with a great title but where I would be buried with stuff & meetings I don't actually want to do. I let my good sense win from my ego, and I'm very happy about that. I don't want to be a "manager", I want to get my hands dirty...
Also having lots of pain in the last week. Not sure why, except that the weather is really funky. To give you an idea... 8 hours ago it was freezing (0°C), and now it is a sunny 17°C going to 20 or even 22 tomorrow. Those are big swings. |

Wide-O, being in the trenches will be far more regarding. Good for you! Discouraging that you still have PN pain but you have come a long way and I hope to achieve the same recover that you have achieved to date.
As for me, first came the pins and needles and then the crippling weakness. Last came the burning. I honestly believe that the burning is somewhat subsiding. That gives me hope. |

Speaking of "bi polar" weather, it was 70F yesterday and now it's 40 and raining. No mountain for me. Maybe next weekend.

Sunny but cold here. I just heard it will be 80 degrees later in the week. That is how it goes here. We do not have nice springs and it goes from winter to instant summer, heat to air conditioning.
I'm off to get some healthy food in this house. I have been so stressed and the first thing to go is my appetite so I have been slacking off and just eating crap food and anything to get the tummy working again. Today I am craving fruit and veggies so I will stock up on good eats. Other than the dang weakness in my legs, it is otherwise a good PN day. In checking my notes going back a year and a half ago, I am convinced that the burning is in fact improving. I just read my journal notes from last summer and had forgotten how bad in was back then. While there are some up and down days, there has definitely been some improvement and I am encouraged. That and this community helps me to stay the course. Let the good times roll! |

A few times this last month I have awoken to no pins and needles and no strange creepy crawler feelings, and no burning. The weakness is always present. The relief is short lived and as soon as I am up the PN comes back but the fact that I sometimes wake up feeling quite good is a very good sign. I am hopeful that something good is happening, finally.
Tomorrow I have a day that will entail some walking. I am concerned about how I will do and how I will feel after. This will be challenging. Stay well my friends. |

Icehouse, I believe you are correct. Somehow I have to try to get some exercise and try to eat better but this little birdie is getting ready to fly! The improvement is slight but noticeable. I am happy and hoping for much more improvement in the months and years ahead, God willing.

Don't want to hijack this site and make this all about me but I do.
Yesterday was a very stressful day and I needed to take care of business. Business entailed walking a mile round trip to get to where I needed to be. It was a challenge. NEVER would I have thought that walking that short distance would cause me such fear and struggle. I survived it. The leg weakness is extreme, I need walk with a cane when outside my home. One of my best features has always been my legs. These days they are skinny with little muscle mass. Is this the result of the atrophy associated with PN or perhaps being so immobile? Likely both. I am just wondering if these muscles can be rebuilt and that will help with this horrific crippling weakness. It is this that is robbing me of living a life. Icehouse, when you begin your therapy again could you maybe ask your therapist? In the meantime I will try to get out daily to walk a block or so. |

Hey guys. So where did everybody go? I am happy to know you all are doing great things but stop in now and then to post about your adventures.
Things are pretty good here. I had expected maybe I was just going thru one of those better times and expected a set back as to the PN, but so far so good. One of you wonderful people here said the progress cannot be measured daily or even weekly but more like monthly or yearly. Because of that advice I had jotted down some PN notes monthly and having read back I realize that although progress is very, very slow, it is coming. A year ago I often was hanging onto walls in the morning. I have not been like that in almost a year. You all have inspired me. Stay happy and well. |
