Woohoo!

One of my favourite sayings now: "I've been sober for years"

It sounds way better than the actual number...

Just got back from 10 days in Canada! 1600 mile drive in an antique Buick and taking in the beauty of a wondrous Country!

Still sober too....even with all that REAL beer readily available.....LOL

Now I have another problem....I gained like 5 pounds from all the food I ate.

That sounds like a great trip .

I can relate to the beers; I still look thoughtfully at the many craft beers sold here.

Sounds like a great trip!

I live in the land of a thousand beers, so I know the drill. Good thing I never really liked beer, or, oddly enough, alcohol in general. I could only drink whisky-cola. When I ran put of Coke I used to get panic attacks as I simply could not swallow pure whisky ... I did like wine, but could not drink more than 2 or 3 glasses with dinner. I was the world’s lousiest alcoholic.

I’m in Tuscany again, this time I did the trip all by myself as my wife was already here. 1400 km drive, no pain. I did it in 2 days, with a stop in Switzerland, but still. There is no way I could have done this 3 years ago, so there is still some progress (although part of that could be mental as well). Mind you, I do have to take it easy the first 2 days after that, otherwise I still “pay” for it.

2526 days sober.

Quit my job...... so I'm taking a couple weeks to "find myself" and enjoy the heat of the South.

Happy Canada Day and 4th of July! (for those on this continent)

Taking some time off to find yourself sounds like a good plan to me .

Funny... I’ve just done several steps back from my endeavours as well. It was becoming a full time job, and when I looked around there were only 2 others who actually did something (other than talk & talk & talk...). A shame, as we could really do good things, but most lack, um, energy. That starts to grate after a while.

So I’m staying in Tuscany, lots of work here, and the food & weather ain’t bad. Trying to learn Italian, which is hard, even though I speak French fluently (another “Roman language”). Back to using hands and feet and gestures, but that’s how you learn!

Our 12 year old “orphaned” lab has found a second youth here. He’s romping around like a puppy again, and is very protective of us. The change of scenery does wonders for him. Parrot loves the 30°C+ temps too, cage is outside all day. He learned to imitate a cute little owl 24 hours after he arrived.

Not yet, but we may retire here in 10 years.

Kiwi, if you have the chance... I have only seen 1/100th of it and I’m already in awe.
