So many MD's over the years continue to push calcium and I've read enough that this is not the answer...so much of these high doses of calcium go to the bloodsream vs the joints. I almost got into a battle with a rheumy MD when she was pushing me to take more calcium and I kept saying more magnesium and less calcium....now I'm up on the Vit D3 and K2 and hardly any calcium tabs.

I hope you don't mind my bringing up this older thread, but I am puzzled and wondering about your normal plasma calcium but high hair calcium. Do you recall if your blood calcium was normal range or actually low?

Were you taking large amounts of Vitamin D at the time?

Off that particular topic, but I was reading a lot of the studies that were done on the RAAF (Royal Au Air Force) F111 (an aircraft now retired) servicing personnel who were basically poisoned in the discharge of their duties. Of course PN was one of the many symptoms they all ended up with and I also came across some mention of Tinnitus in one of lot of govt. information and its potential relationship to the solvents they were using.

Good grief. One of the things I remember from years back was how exciting these F111s were and recall their "dump and burns". The US govt. apparently deemed it too hazardous but oh not not our govt. We all used to race off to watch.

Anyway, I'm sorry to go off on such a tangent but that's a terrible thing to have happened to you. I hope you don't live there anymore.

Hi, As I recall the blood calcium was normal. No I was not taking D at the time. The Dr didn't seem to be able to explain it really. Could only say they are different but of course she did not believe in Hair analysis. But it was correct. Turned out I had level 3 Calcium shell and my xrays eventually showed up little bone spurs from too much calcium occurring on spine and one knee. Been a bit hassle and lot of pain
